Two stories, one from Virginia, one from Alabama. One about a black woman, one about a black man.
When a woman dining at a Waffle House refused to pay 50 cents extra for plastic utensils, she ended up tackled on the ground by Alabama police officers, according to the woman's stepfather and recorded video of the incident.
A day after bailing out his stepdaughter, Lamar Howard told ABC News he is proud of his daughter's restraint, and had he been with her he wouldn't have been able to control his emotions.
"I would have gone to jail first," he said. "And I might have ended up shot or dead.” [...]
Clemons' father said that his daughter had dined at the establishment a week before and was given plastic utensils for free. — abcnews.go.com/...
The young lady asked for Waffle House corporate’s number after questioning the charge. Staff at the restaurant called the police. They arrived, and then proceeded to do this:
Yes, you read that right, the officer pulled down the woman’s top. What exactly are all those white people doing sitting in their seats ignoring this or watching as if it were just a normal day at a Waffle House?
And it was all driven by questioning the waitress about a 50c charge for plastic utensils.
As if that wasn’t crazy enough, here’s a story from Virginia (there’s another diary about it).
Man gives someone 50c, and police pull him over. Police officer says “I saw you at 7-11 give that man something. They’ve been complaining about that man saying he has drugs”
You should read the whole thread. What exactly are the police doing here? Pulling guns on someone because they gave a person 50 cents. Choking a woman because she disputed a 50 cent charge?
Perhaps we need kindergarten teachers to tell the police they should use their words, not their hands?
