Washington Post reporter Josh Dawsey reports that Trump Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh is being prepped for next Monday's testimony by a team that includes "Donald McGahn, Bill Shine, Sarah Sanders, Raj Shah & more."
One of those names stands out, though it stands to reason he would have a role to play in Kavanaugh preparations: Bill Shine. Deputy chief of staff for communications Bill Shine was added to the White House team last July. Until last year, however, he was known as the long-serving co-president of Fox News. He was finally forced out due to his role in covering up years of sexual harassment by network head Roger Ailes and other top Fox names.
His resignation came two weeks after the network’s top-rated host Bill O’Reilly was ousted from Fox News following revelations that he and the network had paid out $13 million to settle complaints against him from five female co-workers.
So one of the White House figures who is helping to prepare Kavanaugh for a new round of testimony after a woman came forward to accuse Kavanaugh of a violent sexual assault is the Fox News network's top cover-up man, an executive with many years of experience in denying that those around him were engaged in repulsive behavior and who kept up the charade even as lawsuits mounted and the perpetrators were finally cast out.
You have to think Shine was hired into this particular White House precisely for those talents. We also don't have to guess what his advice to Kavanaugh will be: Deny, deny, deny.
