As a 65 year old man I have lived through Nixon, Reaganx2, and Bushx2. I was active in politics my whole life out of a deep, abiding love for America and all it has allowed me to achieve. My wife and I finally gave up on America with the election of Trump. We grew tired of the fight and abandoned the field to the next generations so we could enjoy the rest of our lives in peace. We sold everything we owned and moved to a beach in Costa Rica, where we have access to affordable health care and fruits/vegetables directly from the farms and fish directly from the sea. During my life in America, if my generation perceived a wrong, we took to the streets in great numbers. We raised as much hell as we could. We marched on Washington to protest wars and civil injustice in all shapes, sizes and sexual preferences. If ever there was a time for daily protests on the Washington Mall and city and town centers all over America, it’s now for oh so obvious reasons. And yet, there seems to be nothing of the kind. Nothing will change unless you get out from behind your phones, i-pads, computers, take out your bluetooths and earplugs and organize and howl and march in too big a number and too big a volume to be ignored. Wasting your time on “Good News Roundups” or waiting for the Republican Party to come to its senses or for the new Democratic Majority in the House to fix things ain’t gonna do it...Get off your rear ends and get out there and make a difference for all the world to see. My generation did so and ended a war, got rid of a crook in the White House and forced the Civil Rights Act through a reticent Congress and so much more. It’s your turn.
