Star Tribune columnist Nick Coleman ripped into Sen. Norm Coleman (R-MN) (no relation) last Saturday for Norm's continued support of the occupation of Iraq:
Six months ago, I praised Minnesota Sen. Norm Coleman for seeming to back away from the Kool-Aid vat on Iraq.
I spoke too soon. The Iraq quagmire has gone from bad to worse, but Norm is still wearing a Kool-Aid mustache.
(Strib)
Nick talks about how MN politicians have bucked their parties to do the right thing for the greater good. But Norm has never been about anything other than self. It seems to me that virtually every political move he's ever made has been about how to better position himself to ride the latest political trend. Unfortunately for Norm's future prospects, his commitment to the neo-con principles he's espoused for the last decade plus are harder to shirk.
