Liveblog - Senate Judiciary Committee v. Gonzo - Diary II
Tue Jul 24, 2007 at 07:17:02 AM PDT
Don't recommend this diary, recommend Liveblog - Senate Judiciary Committee v. Gonzo, Round 3
Today's sandbox attraction is...yet more Gonzogate fun!
The Senate Judiciary committee will once again be taking "testimony" from our OG AG, Alberto Gonzales, regarding the patently corrupt and insidious questionable replacement of several US Attorneys. This time, though, Leahy has sent Abu a study guide for the questioning session; i.e., he'll have had plenty of time to research his answers. "I can't recall" should be well out of the question. Out of the answer? Anyhoo...it should be plenty amusing to watch him try to spin all of his obfuscations into one coherent yarn.
You can watch the action on C-SPAN3.
Liveblog XXV - Filibuster and the Chamber of Secrets
Wed Jul 18, 2007 at 02:45:33 AM PDT
The is debating the Levin-Reed Amendment to the defense appropriations bill which requires redeployment of troops out of Iraq within 120 days of enactment.
Harry Reid has requsted a simple majority vote on the Levin-Reed Amendment to the Defense Authorization Bill.
Reed is "Jack Reed" of Rhode Island a Democrat and Levin is "Carl Levin" of Michigan also as it happens is a Democrat. Worth noting as it is the Republicans who refuse to budge on our troop deployments.
Text of the amendment is here: S. 2766
The Republicans are filibustering and Harry Reid says that they have to actually debate in this filibuster rather than simply voting on cloture to quash the effort to get an up or down simple majority vote.
So thirty hours of debate is the order of the day, night and day again.
This is not political theater. This is democracy folks and had we done this before we went into Iraq we might have avoided this fiasco.

But alas, Liveblogging isn't all fun and games, or to quote Walter in The Big Lebowski, "this is bowling, not Vietnam...there are ruuules!" They appear below the fold.

Bush gets a Purple Heart
Mon Apr 23, 2007 at 01:41:47 PM PDT
Boy do I wish I was kidding!
Here's the basics. A Vietnam War veteran with three Purple Hearts has given one of them to fearless leader Bush. Because the poor thing has been attacked so viciously.
My head is still spinning from the sheer outrageousness of this.
