Year End Crunch - You Have The Power - Be The Change! w/poll

Sat Dec 31, 2005 at 12:14:27 PM PDT

Everyone has a few more hours to contribute to campaigns and help each campaign's showing in this last quarter.

It's very important to donate as quarters end as fundraising results hits the news. The better each campaign does, their  legitimacy and viability improves, which makes for more money they can raise in the future!

See the three I chose to send money to after the jump and please add your own:

Rolling Stone Mag - A Keeper Must See Issue! w/poll

Fri Dec 23, 2005 at 08:21:32 AM PDT

The current December - January issue of Rolling Stone magazine has a tribute to "Mavericks, Renegades, and Troublemakers."

It's a special issue that you try especially hard to not spill coffee and get foody finger smudges on. My comments are in brackets [].

[With their typical brashness, they start off with the 7 words you can't say on television! Yes, you know the ones:]

Read them in print after the jump:

Quick and Easy Action Diary - No On Bolton

Sat May 28, 2005 at 11:06:21 AM PDT

Quicky action diary on Bolton

Please excuse the informality.  Just want to get some information out there to those who may act and use it!  I hope all of you do!

Many of us have a few days off for a holiday.  Let's take 30 minutes and send some notes.  We're talking a lot, but we need to be acting.  If he's confirmed we will all go "Oh darn, I thought we had it."  How 'bout we be continue to be proactive during this week they are on vacation, and let them come back to piles of correspondence, information, and okay, outrage!

Media Matters Says Bush's Guard Service Not Covered by Media

Mon Aug 30, 2004 at 05:35:27 PM PDT

Just got home.  Sorry if a repost.

May be a good one to email around to your media contacts and ask them why they are not covering this story.

Quoting from press release:

A new Media Matters for America (MMFA) analysis finds that in 2004, media coverage of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth's baseless attacks on John Kerry's war record has been more than twice that of the coverage of the controversy over George W. Bush's service in the Alabama National Guard:

Both current major-party presidential candidates served their country during Vietnam. Both candidates' service has been questioned.

The similarities end there.

Cheney and the Fed. Marriage Amendment

Thu Aug 26, 2004 at 01:15:41 AM PDT

I'm all for gay rights, but Dick Cheney coming out against the Federal Marriage Amendment bothers me.

Oh sure, it's nice and all that he has decided his own gay daughter deserves to be treated like a U.S. citizen.  But, in dishonoring this crucial tenet of his Republican party, he single handedly, in one rally, disenfranchised tens of thousands of bigots and homophobes.

Who can they vote for now?  What will they do?  And, now is a fine time to tell them, after they worked hard getting out the vote and contributed hard earned dollars to the party!

It's not right and it's not fair!

We inclusive, tolerant, loving, and U.S. Constitution respecting people have a party.  We have John Kerry and John Edwards and the Democrats who fight for our rights -- workers' rights, women's rights, civil rights, (civil liberties, too) gay rights, voting rights, reproductive rights, all those and more rights.

The other people deserve their party too!

I call on Dick Cheney to un-denounce the Federal Marriage Amendment and get back with the Republican program!!

Give Bigots for Bush back their party!

Note for distribution to news media

Mon Aug 23, 2004 at 07:26:38 AM PDT

I sent this to a distribution of editors at my local paper.  Plan to send to other news outlets after work. Maybe you might want to do the same?

Swift boatload of lies

Good morning.

Thank you for your coverage of this boatload.

I recall some of the national papers and networks doing debriefings after the Iraq war and WMD issues.  In retrospect they said "maybe we should have investigated."  "Maybe we should have covered it differently."  "Maybe we were wrong."

I would like you to remember the following facts as you continue to cover this story.

Dkos Campaign Against Swiftboat Liars - ACT NOW!

Fri Aug 20, 2004 at 06:58:54 PM PDT

Everyone - this means you!  We need to start our counterattack and now!  Details, addresses, phone numbers follow.  Your handy guide to defeat Bush and the Swift Boat smears follows.

Spend the weekend doing your part to fight back for Kerry!  If necessary, take a day off, call in sick, be late, but do it!

Why you must write a letter to an editor today!

Thu Aug 19, 2004 at 07:05:44 PM PDT

Okay, I'm slow, but now that it has dawned on me, I want to impress on others how important letters to the editor, or longer editorial page items are.

I try to think of myself as typical, or an average voter, or at least put myself in their shoes. And, I know I don't read a lot of the pro-Bush columnists, yet I read the positive Kerry stuff because I am already for Kerry, and it makes me happy.

But, I do read letters, whether in the NYT, the local paper, or Newsweek.

Strange New Zogby Survey

Fri Aug 13, 2004 at 05:55:18 PM PDT

I thought the latest Zogby survey was strange.

Are they trying to determine if it is crazy latte drinking, New York Times-reading, body-piercing liberals who are for Kerry?

When I got to "What is your astrological sign," I went back to the email to make sure I hadn't fallen for a scam.  It's real.

Democrats Are Not Weak on Defense!

Sat Aug 07, 2004 at 01:55:18 PM PDT

General Wes Clark is trying to help us to defeat this meme.

"Anyone who tells you one party has a monopoly on the defense of our nation is committing a fraud on the American people."

-- Wes Clark Democratic Convention Speech 7/29/04

Dave Thomas for Congress - Colorado

Fri Aug 06, 2004 at 06:37:07 PM PDT

This is my first diary entry.  Is there a reward or prize or anything?  Enid in Colorado used to give 1st time callers a kiss! (Then the show got canceled. Maybe that's why.) Maybe $20 to the poster's favorite needy candidate would be kind?

I did an archive search and didn't come up with anything for Dave Thomas, a great Democratic candidate for Congress in the 7th District, Colorado.

He is running against the incumbent, Bush Rubber Stamp, and co-sponsor of the Federal Marriage Amendment, Bob Beauprez.  Bob Beauprez is unfortunately who I have to represent me, and I know I am trying to use pity for fundraising. :( I am doing all I can to make sure that sorry state of affairs ends in November.  I want real representation of my voice!
