Jason Furman SUCKS!!!
Thu Jul 17, 2008 at 05:55:53 AM PDT
Sometimes I wonder to myself how Obama is doing this well with so many timid, unexcited, weak, shaky, unprepared, and nervous advisors. Once again I’m listening to CNBC, and Jason Furman is once again being interviewed a long side the Mccain economic guy. Jason rarely seems like he really believes what he is saying and seems almost uncomfortable with the whole situation....
Most stereotypes aren't made up...
Tue Jul 15, 2008 at 07:12:03 AM PDT
Most stereotypes aren't made up.. Think about it the ones that tend to have the most truth tend to be the most hurtful because people take it so personally. Once we agree on that, we should ask is there something wrong with a certain stereotype. If so how do we as a community fix it? If there is nothing wrong with a certain quality then we should embrace it.
What makes something a "quality" verses a "stereotype"? People who get upset about stereotypes need to be put on notice because they apparently have some sort of deep issue with whatever the quality is that makes something or someone different. People need to be stronger regarding things like that.
I'm a 27 year old, male, white, middle class, left handed, scorpio, from Florida.
What comes to mind after reading that? If the white male part caught your eye, and you thought to yourself "what does a white guy know about stereotypes, how could he even talk about a subject like this". Then my friend you are embracing one of the most dangerous stereotypes of all. That another fellow human has no ability to use observational logic to have empathy for anyone else, or to be critical, or question someone else. Somehow unless we have lived the experience we are not able to understand.
MSM Nickname: John "60 Flip-Flops" McCain
Mon Jul 14, 2008 at 08:37:54 AM PDT
I'm going to write a diary every day until I start hearing the main stream media cover John McCains flip-flops as much as Obama's recently perceived flip-flops. This is important because Obama is starting to get branded as the bigger flip-flopper of the two. Even though on the internet McCain is the biggest Flip-Flopper; however in the selective MSM Obama is still taking the cake. So we can start by having every liberal talking head and guest on cable news and otherwise using the nickname: John "60 Flip-Flops" McCain whenever refering to his name.
Please recommend this. I want at least to start with Rachel and Keith, Markos and Arianna to use this every evening and every day till election day; and anyone else who has the guts to point out McCain's position changes. This must be the message. Right now the mainsteam media focuses so hard on Obama's changes because he is new(er) and talks about a new kind of politics. However the new kind of politics to me is they same as saying "straight talk express" that McCain runs on.
How Many John McCain Flip-Flops? 61!

How many times has John McCain Flip-Flopped? For the cause of spreading the word and keywording the globe here is a list of 61 John McCain Flip-Flops.
Biden gets very real with Mukasey /w Video
Thu Jul 10, 2008 at 05:32:00 AM PDT
I was a Biden supporter until he dropped out. I felt he was edgy enough to go up against Giuliani at the time. If Biden was chosen as Obama's VP it would be exciting however there is always a chance he would put his foot in his mouth. Yet compared to the choppy, teeth grinding, and sleepy debates we are going to see between Obama and Mccain. Biden may actually be one of the few people to still get voter's attention (for better or worse).
So Biden is at it again, putting it out there, letting Mukasey have it for tip-toeing around whether the people were politicizing the Department of Justice. Each time Mukasey tries to wiggle out of the question, Biden finds a different way of calling Mukasey out on it.
Biden draws the parallels between how politically crafty Mukasey is with his words, telling him "man we could use you in the state department, we could use you in foreign relations, you sound like a diplomat." Biden points out how POLITICAL Mukasey is being about the Justice Department being politicized!
Biden also calls Mukasey an "enigma" and that he is "acting like you float above up in the ether somewhere". See video below for more...
Jesse Ventura running for senate? 60th vote?
Wed Jul 09, 2008 at 09:11:33 AM PDT
According to this ABC news article it looks like Jesse Ventura is getting fired up about running for MN senate. Can you imagin Jesse being the 60th senate swing vote?
In an interview with NPR's David Welna that ran today former Gov. Jesse "The Body" Ventura, Ind-Minn., sounds like he may run for Senate, challenging incumbent Sen. Norm Coleman, R-Minn., whom Ventura defeated for governor in 1998, as well as Democratic nominee and former Saturday Night Live humorist Al Franken.
Ventura, born Jim Janos, tells Welna that the main reason he would run is because of Coleman's support for the war in Iraq. "That's the reason I run," he says. "I run because it angers me...All you Minnesotans take a good hard look at all three of us. And you decide: if you were in a dark alley which one of the three of us would you want with you?
Iraq: Obama out in 5 years, Mccain out in 50.
Mon Jul 07, 2008 at 09:54:35 AM PDT
I have a feeling some people are missing the point regarding Obama's stance on Iraq withdraw. The point is he does not want a long term presence in Iraq. Mccain openly says he is ok with long term bases in Iraq. So we are talking about roughly 5 or so years to get 90% of our the troops out of Iraq with Obama (then 5 more years to be totally out), or keep at least 15% to 35% of the current troops levels in Iraq over the next 50 years under Mccain and at least 60% current levels for the next 5 years.
If you listen to many of Obama's foreign and military advisors most of them since the beginning have talk about a careful withdraw, and Obama after staying the 16 month "goal" would almost always follow it with the "as careful getting out, as careless getting in". I've always read that as, it could take at least twice the time he hopes for with the "goal". I realize some people here think it’s totally possible and practical get to 95% of the troops out within 6 to 8 months. However Obama has never consider a withdraw for within a 12 month period.
McCain and Romney, Cofer and Charlie Black...
Thu Jul 03, 2008 at 05:56:57 AM PDT
I've been reading lots of stories about Charlie Black over the last week. Charlie’s firm gives money to a lot of private contractors and borderline mercenaries. Well of this reminded me of Mitt Romney’s go to guy for terrorism expertise Cofer Black (a name right out of a movie). Cofer one of BlackWater’s top guys pushes the concept of private military groups to overthrow governments and help put in new regimes so we can have better access to friendly governments who will allow our Halliburtons to setup shop.
So why is this McCain’s problem? When our veterans start to look at McCain as the guy who seems to now outsource our military like the Bush administration does, and then those America companies REALLY outsource guys from Columbia and other places and send them to Iraq it really starts to undermine two major qualities McCain has been strong on in the past...
Slurs targeting Obama spray painted on city vehicles in Orlando
Sun Jun 29, 2008 at 06:42:58 AM PDT
It looks like Florida is still Clinton country, or Mccain country, or Barr country... Open tread..
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Racial slurs targeting Barack Obama were discovered spray painted tonight on dozens of city vehicles in Orlando.
The vandalism happened in a City of Orlando parking lot on the corner of south and orange.
Phrases including "Obmama smokes crack" and others phrases with racial slurs were written in blue spray paint on the white city cars and trucks.
Other vehicles appeared to have had their gas tanks tampered with.
Along with the paint, hundreds of business cards were left on windshields.
The cards contain criticism of Obama on one side, and support for Hillary Clinton and her family on the other side.
The same cards were left on channel nine vehicles in Daytona Beach several weeks ago.
The vandalism happened the same night the Obama campaign kicked off its Florida organization with parties across the state.
Local representatives with the Obama campaign told channel nine they weren't aware of any similar incidents.
Orlando police are investigating the incident.
TV review: Swingtown!
Fri Jun 27, 2008 at 06:16:22 AM PDT
When I first heard of Swingtown whose premise is a suburban Chicago couple moves to the higher end area of town and meets new friends and (swinging is insinuated). I didn't know much more than that, but I thought how is CBS going to make this work? So I tuned in...
Well after watching it for the last month the decision to use the campy 70s feel I think works perfect for primetime TV. However I’m afraid after talking to people, they many folks are not sure what is about, or that is just another Desperate Housewives. Keep in mind this show is from the director of Big Love. So it has the edge and the humor that really does make you feel like you are part of these embarrassing situations.
The show obviously goes beyond swinging, it allows for a very deeper more honest subtext beyond the idea of just being mischievous like many primetime shows offer. However this show gets into the many dynamics people in their late 30s and early 40s find themselves in after landing the big job, and being a part of new social groups and all of the vices that can go with that set in a VERY balanced slightly silly, era mocking 70s setting, but not so silly that you want to change the channel.
Reviewers out there are starting to warm up to the real concept of the show and the approach the show takes.
Donate to Obama by June 30th and get an Obama Logo shirt!
Thu Jun 26, 2008 at 07:44:04 AM PDT
A great shirt to wear to work; only has the logo on it :-)
The financial reporting deadline for June is coming up this Monday at midnight.
This will be the first test of our grassroots fundraising program since we declared our independence from the broken campaign financing system.
We need to show that a campaign funded by ordinary people giving only what they can afford can go toe-to-toe with John McCain and the Republican National Committee.
Make a donation of $30 or more by midnight on June 30th and receive a special edition Obama logo T-shirt:

2008 WEDGE ISSUE! Off-Shore Drilling!
Fri Jun 20, 2008 at 05:38:32 AM PDT
Polls are showing that in many states (including Florida) off-shore drilling is gaining interest. So what does that mean for the November election? It means IF Obama is 100% against off-shore drilling that he might lose out to Republicans and Independents who where considering not even voting in November; however because of gas prices they just might!
I'm thinking Republicans are going to try to lift federal limitations so that states can vote for this in the fall. Obama may have to say he is for states choosing and using the revenues to invest in real energy. Because no matter how much you tell the other half of American that drilling WILL NOT lower the price of gas, damnit they are still going to try.
Some of us here have the mindset that somehow we can educate enough people about this issue. But I’m telling you now, if gas is anywhere around $4 /gal like it is now in November then we better watch out. There are a lot of people on the fence and they will have a panic vote for the guy who supports more drilling. Maybe if Obama could put up a bill that allows for states to vote, however, only allows companies to have so much land that they must use so any land they are holding now, much be used or they must give it up.
POLL: Should Obama's public financing plan have smaller limits?
Thu Jun 19, 2008 at 10:45:30 AM PDT
I'm going to do a poll here. Put me on the record as being for the idea of what i'm going to coin right now as Obama's REAL Public Financing Plan. I think this should limit contributions to $500 per person total.
You might say why $500? I feel that its high enough to get the funds needed to fight 527 groups but also low enough that it sends a message that we don't need crazy amounts of money to get the message out. The Obama campaign could also build into his contributions page an option for people to check off if they spend more than $500 that it will go to 1 of 5 different non-profit groups like the Red Cross and the site could keep a running tally on that. Or maybe contributing to the DNC however that could be looked at as a backdoor to promoting Obama as well.
Sign Me Up For Off-Shore Drilling!
Wed Jun 18, 2008 at 06:05:45 AM PDT
You can put this up there with why we should bring back the draft, so people can start taking foreign policy seriously...
Yesterday I wrote about how Mccain's new support of off-shore drilling puts Florida in play. Well, after reading comments, researching polls, and thinking about the economic climate we are in. I'm proposing a radical position and one that Obama can play hardball with if he does it right. Let’s allow most off-shore drilling with the point of showing people that they won’t see any benefits from it within the next 15 years (permits, drilling research, construction, weather, local REFINING), and by then gas will be $15 /gal and most of us will be driving better cars, driving a lot less, and living much closer to work (even if it means finding a new job). The message is, sure we can drill off-shore let’s do it now, BUT it’s not going to change a thing, and if anything all of the work involved is going to raise the price beyond anything we can imagine and then kind of make it a laughing point in the debates.
Mccain's Off-Shore Drilling Puts Florida In Play
Tue Jun 17, 2008 at 09:09:13 AM PDT
It looks like Mccain wants to support off-shore drilling. This is a very sensitive subject in Florida. Many older voters are very much against off-shore drilling because of the environmental risks. Plus Florida politicians know that to get enough votes in most areas of Florida they have to be firmly against off-shore drilling. Florida Governor Charlie Crist says he is for and against off-shore drilling often in the same sentience, but started out very much against it (I’m not sure how long he can do this on so many issues until his approval rating really starts to take a hit.

ALERT! We don't want Iraq to be like Korea!
Thu Jun 12, 2008 at 06:08:47 AM PDT
This morning on Morning Joe, the bs governor of my great state of Florida Charlie Crist (who is killing state jobs and slashing all kinds of research funding in the state, because of a lame property tax bill that undermines the state and which funds are made back up by county level taxes so there really is no real tax savings for homeowners)
Anyway he use that stupid excuse about Mccain's comments on Iraq. That "we have been in Korea for a long time". So the argument that as long as we aren't taking casualties is somehow a sound general argument is flat out reckless. Why?
What is the best Mccain Flip Flop website?
Wed Jun 11, 2008 at 08:32:36 AM PDT
There are lots of sites out there that have tons of Mccain videos. However i'm looking for and maybe considering putting together a site for Mccain Flip Flops on issues. A simple site that has two or three columns (a Flip and a Flop column) with his original stance in a text quote verses his current stance and maybe even a flip back as well with links to video when available.
I think it would be very important to have a clearly laid out site that displays all of his Flips and Flops in a simple manner; focusing on the top 50 or maybe 100 of his switched view points.
I want this to be a site that we can send Mccain supporters at work, or people in our familys who are considering voting for Mccain. Some of the same people who voted against Kerry because of his perceived flip flops.
So if you could please point me in the right direction to the most straightforward and comprehensive Mccain Flip Flop web site. Or let’s start building one in a hurry.
