Lifelong Conservative Activist Backing Obama

Fri Jul 18, 2008 at 06:40:07 PM PDT

Larry Hunter, a lifelong conservative who worked in the Reagan White House, was chief economist at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for five years, and helped write the Republican Contract for America, appeared on Countdown tonight, and talked about his support for Obama.

Larry Hunter had an op-ed in the New York Daily News today where he stated that he was voting for Obama because "Unjustified war and unconstitutional abridgment of individual rights vs. ill conceived tax and economic policies -- this is the difference between venial and mortal sins."

My left breast

Tue Mar 27, 2007 at 09:13:35 PM PDT

I have had pain in my left breast for the last several months.  I do not have health insurance. I am feeling afraid.  I work for an attorney. He has great health insurance for his numerous drunk driving fiascos, and that is totally irrelevant.  I know that.    I have no health insurance, and I am scared.

My Bargain With The Devil

Tue Feb 13, 2007 at 07:14:26 PM PDT

In response to a diary here on Sunday, I watched "Iraq For Sale," on the internet.  After I had watched that, I watched "Fahrenheit 9/11" at the same website. I was blown away.

I have a repug friend who is 83 years old. She has always been a repug.  She is an avid Faux news watcher.  I brokered a deal with her:  Faux news shall be my only cable network source of news for 30 days, with the only exception being that I can watch MSNBC from the time I get home from work (5:30 p.m.) until 6:00 p.m.  Notice that I still get to access news on the online, as well as Daily Kos.  In exchange, I shall bring the DVD of Fahrenheit 9/11 to her home on Sunday and we shall both watch it together.

"I have but one life to give to my country."  Thirty days of  Faux news – pray for me!

I shall be checking in here regularly for support

Tomorrow Night

Tomorrow night I must attend a birthday party for a man who is dying of liver cancer.

Bitch Slap

Wed Nov 15, 2006 at 08:44:24 PM PDT

This is a terribly, terribly offensive expresson.  I never want to hear this expression on Daily Kos again.

Don't you know how insulting this is to women? How vulgar it is?   You shame me with your ignorance and vulgarity.   Calling us "bitches?

You shame us, and you shame our party.

Maybe the "Bitch slapers" (obvously those who hate women) ought to just shut the fuck up

Brothers and Sisters

Sun Nov 05, 2006 at 07:27:40 PM PDT

Where is Pastor Dan when I need him?

I'm  not a religious woman, but at this point in time I am willing to fall down on my knees and pray for our counry.

This is a very important election.

I look at the polls and they are so close.

Seniors For Peace

Thu Sep 28, 2006 at 07:15:50 PM PDT

Tonight as I was walking from my office to the bus stop (yes, I am trying to do what I can for the environment) I saw a long city block lined with black combat shoes.

On each pair of combat boots was a tag with the name of a man or woman from California who had died in Iraq.   The tag contained their name, age, and the city where they lived.

DailyKos - "It's the 24-hour news cycle on steroids,"

Mon Sep 04, 2006 at 04:00:14 PM PDT

My local newspaper, The Santa Rosa Press Democrat, front-paged DailyKos today in an article entitled "Let the Cyber Campaigning Begin."
"Lynn Woolsey blogged on Daily Kos, a political hot spot on the information superhighway.

"By posting her proposal to repeal President Bush's Iraq war powers on the popular progressive Web log at 6:58 a.m. on July 25, the North Bay congresswoman sent a message to the world - and scooped herself."

The article, which can be read in its entirety http://www1.pressdemocrat.com/... here, goes on to say this about DailyKos:

Have I Told You Lately that I Love you?

Sun Sep 03, 2006 at 08:01:49 PM PDT

Well, I do.  I came to DailyKos in September of 2004 as a result of an online class I was taking at my local JC called "Journalism in the Electronic Age."  The class was directed to this site as an example of a "blog."

I had never even heard of a blog before.  I wasn't even a Democratic at that time.  I was just sort of ambivalent, aka, uninformed.    I was raised as a repug.  I became very disenchanted with the repugs as a result of the Clinton impeachment hearings, but I did not really think of myself as a Democrat.  I didn't know anything about Democrats at that time, other than that they were "bleeding heart liberals."  I think that it would be safe to say that I was fairly apolitical.  Always voted repug without ever knowing why, other than that my parents had always voted repug.

The New Bob Dylan CD

Tue Aug 29, 2006 at 08:13:12 PM PDT

I waited breathlessly today for Bob Dylan's new CD to come out.  I thought that the fact that it was scheduled to come out today (the first anniversary of Katrina was relevant.) It was not.  It was a great disapointment.
I long for the "fire in the belly" that Dylan used to have when he sang "Masters of War," "Blowing in the Wind," and "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall."  The "fire in the belly" was certainly not there in his new CD.

I Am a Total Unmitigated Asshole

Tue Jul 11, 2006 at 08:16:58 PM PDT

Last night, Gimp posted this http://www.dailykos.com/... Diary.
I made a flip comment; here it is in all its shame:  "I work for a law office.  Supposedly a very well paid position.  Well it probably pays between $18 to $25 an hour.   A woman who works with me spends $1400 per month for rent.  She can't afford it.  That was her choice.  She also just bought a new car that she can't afford and will probably lose it.  .  I make more money than she does, but I have a huge tax lien.  I really cannot afford to support others who do not work.  Flame me, blame me."

I Threw My Republican Friend to the Curb Tonight

Mon Jun 26, 2006 at 08:11:59 PM PDT

I used to have a repug friend.  She is 81 years old and fairly moderate.  However, she has a habit of getting really radical at times. (Yes, she is a FOX fan.)  Tonight I listened to her rant and rave that Warren Buffit should have given his money to help "Merica," and how old and ugly Helen Thomas is.  You finally get to the point where you can no longer be polite.

She's also one of those "surrender monkeys" who scream, "Take all of my constitutional rights away, and just make me feel safe, Mr. President, sir."

Follow the drama below:

Santorium: WMD found in Iraq

Wed Jun 21, 2006 at 07:28:27 PM PDT

When I got home tonight my repug friend called me and told me that WMD were found in Iraq.  I was amazed as no major news sources were reporting this.  I checked out NYT, WP and, of course, this website.

Al Gore and "An Inconvenient Truth."

Mon Jun 19, 2006 at 08:02:58 PM PDT

Yesterday I saw  "An Inconvenient Truth."  I sat there with tears rolling down my face.  Al Gore was so incredible; so articulate; so brilliant, so informed, so passionate, and so presidential, that I just knew that he had actually been elected as POTUS in 2000.  I could not help but compare this incredibly brilliant man with the cowboy boots president presently occuping the White House.  I just cannot believe that there are that many idiots in America who voted for Bush.

RedState Caught Lying - Again!

Sun Jun 11, 2006 at 06:58:31 PM PDT

Occasionally I click on RedState to see their various reactions as to what is happening in our country and abroad.  I was especially curious to see what their reaction was to yearlykos, and caught them in yet another lie.

There it was:  "The Impeachment Convention:  Impeachment with a wink and a nod. It's an impossibility now, but give us the House, and it's a whole new ballgame," quoting Barbara Boxer. http://www.redstate.com/...  I would have pointed out that this post was inaccurate but, of course, I was banned long ago.

Bummed Out in CA

Thu Jun 08, 2006 at 08:03:57 PM PDT

When I first heard about yearlykos I was at first hesitant, then became more and more interested.  By the time I became enthusiastic, time and money were short.  I still could have done it had I started saving money for it.  Then I filed my tax returns online and discovered that I was getting a pretty good tax refund. So, I trusted the govt. to send me my tax refund within a reasonable time.   That did not happen.

More after the fold.

Congressman Conyers and the MSM

Thu Apr 13, 2006 at 06:18:06 PM PDT

I happen to like and respect John Conyers very much.  However, both yesterday and this morning on CNN I heard a disturbing story about Congressman Conyers.

The gist of the story is that John Conyers uses his government paid staff for activities such as babysitting his children and working on political campaigns.

Stand up - Shout it Out! - Impeach Bush

Sun Apr 02, 2006 at 09:47:47 PM PDT

Come on, you know you  want to.  Let's throw the imposter (Bush) out. Let's bring our troops back from that hell hole known as Iraq.  As a person who had a father "wasted"  in  Vietnam., I'd really like to save other familes  from the grief that my family suffered.
IMPEACH BUSH, THE COWARD OF CRAWFORD WHO DODGED The VIETMAN DRAFT.  The man who joined the National Guard and failed to complete his service there.  AND THIS ASSHAT IS OUR "WAR PRESIDENT?"

While we are at it; How many deferments did Cheney get?  Chickenhawks all the way -- more like chicken shits.
