Updated :: Police Brutality against Longest Walkers in Ohio
Thu Jun 05, 2008 at 07:59:07 PM PDT
Winter Rabbit posted this diary on Tuesday night. This is an important report and perhaps you'll do what I did and send some dough.
Longest Walk, Ohio, police brutality
Imagine beginning to walk from San Francisco in order to raise awareness about American Indian concerns in a good way and having walked over 2,400 miles since February; but then, you get to Ohio where eight police cars come swooping at you while one does the blocking. Suddenly, an officer comes and reaches into the window, grabbing the wheel.
Source
COLUMBUS Ohio – Unprovoked Columbus, Ohio police, attacked Long Walkers, by first pointing a taser at the head of Michael Lane and then forcing Luv the Mezenger to the ground and handcuffing him.
The Longest Walk Northern Route was walking this prayer through Columbus on Monday, June 2, when squad cars and arrest wagons arrived. Without discussion of the purpose of the prayer walk, or even verify that the Ohio Department of Transportation had been notified of the prayer walk, police attacked the walkers.
SFKossacks Dine with Famous Bloggers (PHOTO HEAVY)
Tue Mar 18, 2008 at 10:12:47 AM PDT
In honor of the "Writers Strike" I am posting my photo diary here at DailyKos. I normally post these local events at our SFKossacks blog but today I decided to make an exception.
Hi all you GBCWorlders! As if...
The wonderful OrangeClouds115 had an 8 hour layover in San Francisco and that gave us plenty of time to meet for dinner. My new favorite, Gloryous1 recommended a fantastic restaurant in the Mission near a BART station so OC could jet over from SFO. In fact, I think all of us used BART dude. We coo.
We all met at Andalu. It was a fantastic foodie place to dine.
Phood Photos below plus some blogger pics.
Also below OrangeCloud’s dinner photos are BONUS shots of our February dinner welcoming Shockwave to the Bay Area

SFKossacks Help PBWH (Many PHOTOs)
Sun Dec 02, 2007 at 12:57:35 PM PDT
We held our annual Holiday Party again at SallyCat & Mr. Cat’s house yesterday. As usual we had a wonderful turnout and plenty of great food, drink and lively conversation.
Road Warrior award goes to Shockwave who resides in the L.A. area. I always enjoy talking to him. (Shockwave, I just added Constantine’s Sword to the "saved" area of my Netflix Queue, unknown if it will be released on DVD. I really want to see it. Looking forward to more of your Teamster diaries.)
We collected donations for the troops at our last event (warning extremely photo heavy) and our host SallyCat chose as her project for yesterday’s event to be Pretty Bird Woman House. SFKossacks were very generous. It wasn’t just gently worn clothing either, many folk brought NEW items, like towels, etc. Awesome.

SFKossacks’ Big BBQ Theory (PHOTO heavy!)
Mon Oct 01, 2007 at 09:08:34 AM PDT
Our theory; announce it and they will come. They did.
According to the SFKossack Big BBQ model, the universe developed from an extremely dense and hot BBQ state. The SFKossacks have been expanding ever since, carrying galaxies (and all other matter) with it.
What a weekend! First we decide to have a BBQ at highacidity’s and ukiyo’s house in the South Bay on Saturday the 29th and then Eddie C from NYC announces to our group that he is going to fly out just for our BBQ. It becomes a BIG BBQ because we pull out all the stops for guest kossacks.

http://www.yearlykosconvention.org/...

Rockin’ in the Bay Area for YKOS (SanFran) w/ PICs!!
Sat Jun 02, 2007 at 10:36:41 AM PDT
A continuation of NYBri’s diary about our YearlyKos fundraiser held last night at ROE in San Francisco.
What a success, what a turnout, I’m hoarse, exhausted but very satisfied with our evening. I met so many new folk, hugged all my old friends. I took a lot of photos but still managed to miss some key shots. Hopefully someone else captured those I missed like CaliScribe. I saw her for 2 seconds and then lost her. I missed taking a photo of SusanG, BentLiberal, plus a bunch of others. So please post your photos below.
A huge thrill for me was to meet Jotter! I had no idea that was a possibility. I got his photo.
Kudos to NYBri for flying out from the East Coast and Shockwave for speeding up from LA in his car. Excellent supporters!
Please help Gina & Raven put on another GREAT event in Chicago by donating here.

LiveBlogging Bob Johnson's Pathetic Diary pt1
Tue May 22, 2007 at 09:11:29 AM PDT
Bob's comment thread is getting so slow to refresh that I have become bored with it.
Perhaps you all would like to continue arguing here.
Food for thought:
What the hell did Bob eat and drink last night?
Is his bike in the shop?
If you visit Bob's Blog
you could fight him over there so you don't have to fight him over here.
FRAMESHOP: Literally, SFKossacks at it AGAIN, (PHOTOS, as usual)
Sun Feb 11, 2007 at 09:13:38 AM PDT
(Sorry to rip you off Mr. Feldman. I couldn’t resist)
It was a dark and stormy night....literally.
A big thank you goes out to Paul in Berkeley who opened his FRAMESHOP for our "Wine & Cheese Thingey."
The dark and stormy night did not stop our Road Warrior Awardee dweb8231 who drove 50 miles from Vallejo. Road Warrior Runnerups include norm, lapolitichick and sean mykael, all from the East Bay.
Next event will be at Moody Loner’s house in the South Bay sometime in April, stay tuned.

Konnecting Kossacks with Kossacks (PHOTOS!)
Mon Jan 22, 2007 at 10:48:26 AM PDT
Yep, that’s my job.
My mission, which I chose to accept, was to konnect the San Francisco Kossacks with OrangeClouds115 on her visit to SF.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! I must say.
We met last night at a fantastic Indian restaurant that Raven Brooks of BuyBlue.org fame suggested. According to witnesses this is Raven’s special gift; recommending restaurants that are really good.
Well, the food was delicious and the company was great!

MYERS WITHDRAWS AS NINTH CIRCUIT NOMINEE
Wed Jan 10, 2007 at 02:22:28 PM PDT
I obtained permission to post this in full from Ms. Coyle who is listed below.
PRESS RELEASE:
QUECHAN INDIAN NATION OPPOSITION KEY TO HIS DEFEAT
Fort Yuma, California/Arizona (January 9, 2007). Today, William G. Myers III, former Solicitor in the Bush Department of Interior, withdrew his name for appointment to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Myers had been strongly opposed by Native Americans, particularly for his failure to respect legal protections for Native American sacred places.
The Quechan Indian Nation was a key player in galvanizing Indian Country to oppose the nominee. Quechan Tribal leaders met with and gained support from members of Congress, the California Nations Indian Gaming Association, the Inter-Tribal Council of Arizona and the National Congress of American Indians, among others, and testified before Congress and participated in confirmation hearings.
This was the first time Indian Country had opposed a federal judicial nominee.
SFKossack Kocktail Party with PHOTOS!
Thu Dec 21, 2006 at 01:59:46 PM PDT
In your face DCKossacks! We rented an entire outdoor ice rink and the local news was there. We had 901 people attend. How 'bout that Carnacki? Can you beat that???
I don't think so.
Here is our Flickr page for those of you with dial-up. (I hope that helps... maybe not...)

SFKossacks Have a Drinking Problem
Sun Dec 17, 2006 at 08:51:07 PM PDT
Yes, we don't have enough recommended places in the city to meet for drinks.
If you live in or close to San Fran please post in the comments about good places that will accomodate a group of around 20 folk easily, not too loud and close to public transit.
Go below to find out about our next event, coming right up this Wednesday the 20th, starting at 6pm at the Hyatt Embarcadero.
San Francisco Kossacks Holiday Party Photos!
Sun Dec 03, 2006 at 01:54:23 PM PDT
The San Francisco Bay Area Kossacks had their holiday party yesterday with over 40 peeps in attendance.
Thanks to everyone that made the trek from far away places like Ukiah and Los Angeles. A special thanks to Kos, Elise and Ari for making a personal appearance.
"Road (airline) Warrior Award" goes to Fabooj, Mr. Fabooj and their 2 darling kidlets. They flew up from L.A.
"Above and Beyond the Call of Duty Award" goes to SallyCat and Mr. Cat. They opened their lovely home in Marin to all of us loons and cooked a bunch of jambalaya and pies. The Cats really went out of their way by renting chairs and creating a fabulous kid friendly atmosphere.

Photos from Jon Tester Event Last Night
Tue Jul 18, 2006 at 12:09:41 PM PDT
It was a beautiful sunny day in San Francisco. I enjoyed my walk from Bart past the Transamerica Pyramid building and up Columbus thru North Beach all the way to the famed Washington Square. I was ready for a nice cold beer. I got one thanks to the immensely down to earth Jon Tester. I introduced myself and told him I was a reader of DailyKos and he really liked that. I spoke to his wife and told her that during this campaign when the going gets rough to please remember that she is doing this not only for Montana but also for the entire country and to be strong for all of us. She really liked that. It was a pleasure to meet both of them.
Neutron was there and also Sarah R Carter but I neglected to get photos. I wore my SFKossacks nametag hoping people would introduce themselves, DWSUWF did.
I would love to hear from those that were able ($$) to attend the bash at the Aquarium with Pearl Jam and Jon Tester. Please post below.
A few photos from Jon Tester's event at Washington Square Bar & Grill are below:
Pimp My Picnic: SFKossacks at it again! PHOTOS!
Mon Jul 10, 2006 at 03:27:18 PM PDT
Since Nolan Treadway could not attend his going away party in person
highacidity carved his image in Photoshop. Nolan is now complete with a metallic suit, ykos bling and chest hair, yes, black chest hair.
"Nolan" had a great time. We toasted him, sang to him and offered our advice regarding his future.
All photos below.
SFKossacks bid fond adieu to Nolan Treadway
Wed Jul 05, 2006 at 05:28:30 PM PDT
Alas, I found out in Las Vegas that our dear
Nolan was due to leave the San Francisco Bay Area within couple of days. There wasn't enough time to organize a going away party.
But should that stop us?
We'll have one anyway with one minor detail; Nolan won't be there.

Native American Roll Call for YearlyKos
Sat Jun 03, 2006 at 03:04:38 PM PDT
Well, at the risk of having not one response to this diary I am going to ask ARE THERE ANY NATIVE AMERICANS OUT THERE WHO ARE ATTENDING
YEARLYKOS?!
I am and I will be hosting the Native American Caucus on Thursday, June 8th at 5:45 p.m. until 7:15 p.m.
I am uncertain of the room location since this caucus was a recent development.
You don't have to be Native American to attend of course.
