Impeachment Read Again Tonight on CSPAN (updated X2)
Tue Jun 10, 2008 at 06:27:19 PM PDT
Dennis Kucinich had the House Clerks read his articles of impeachment on the House Floor on Tuesday.
I heard something about this earlier today on CSPAN's crawl but wasn't sure what would happen.
(Updated after reading campleted) Unlike last night, the measure was ruled to qualify as privileged. Kucinich moved to send it to Judiciary, motion failed by voice vote, Kucinich objected due to lack of a quorum, further action delayed by rule, Kucinich asked for adjournment which was granted.
The next phase will be votes Wednesday from what I have heard.
Resolution, Articles, Conclusion, and more below.
Please Come to Austin Senator Obama!
Wed Jun 04, 2008 at 04:41:44 PM PDT
Now that we have the news that Senator Clinton will be withdrawing from the race on Friday, I am using this platform to invite Senator Obama to come to Austin Friday night for the best venue possible to show party unity.
The Texas Democratic Convention is the perfect venue to show the punditry that our Party will unite behind him.
Texas is the poster child for a divided Democratic Party with Senator Clinton's win in the primary and Senator Obama's win in the caucuses.
The Austin Convention Center will be filled to capacity with a crowd that the pundits will claim represents the split in the Democratic Party but we know that very few rabid Clinton supporters will be there and the vast majority of the crowd on Friday night will be Democrats who will put the Party and winning in November above any animosity they had after our hard fought primary calendar.
Please come to Austin Senator Obama.
Victory! Tomtech wins Healthcare for the poor.
Thu May 29, 2008 at 05:52:55 PM PDT
That's right folks I won!
Whatever your thoughts are about health care for our indigent population I hope you will join with me and celebrate my victory!
Last August I was turned down for health care from my local hospital district even though I had previously qualified in another county. That event started a 10 month battle where I learned what laws covered health care and determined that my local hospital district was failing to follow the state laws which regulated them.
This week I was informed that the hospital district's board of directors will be changing their policies such that they will be in line with the state laws I identified to them.
They did this after receiving a copy of the lawsuit my legal aide lawyers had prepared and were ready to file.

Netroots Draftee Rick Noriega Challenges Cornyn to "Great Debate"
Tue May 20, 2008 at 04:56:58 AM PDT
I attended a rally for Texas' Democratic Senate Candidate Col. Rick Noriega Saturday afternoon in Marshall, TX. that corresponded with their Stagecoach Days festival where Rich rode in the parade.

During Col. Noriega's presentation he mentioned a challenge he put forward inviting John Cornyn to meet him for a debate on veterans issues at the home of the "Great Debaters", Wiley College right there in Marshall, Tx.
Col. Noriega met with a member of The League of Women Voters to discuss sponsoring the debate.
From KLTV 7 in Longview, TX.
"I think Senator Cornyn ought to come here to Marshall. This would be a great opportunity at Wiley College institution to stand up and talk about his votes on veterans issues. I would be incredibly humble to debate with him at Wiley College," said Noriega.
Col. Noriega is one of our troops (and a draftee at that)! Below the fold I will let everyone know some of the ways we can SUPPORT OUR TROOP.

So go ahead and sign in for Edwards, Richardson, Dodd, or Biden. I will probably start with Edwards just to see how they react.

Three Click Campaign Search
Sat Dec 01, 2007 at 10:32:02 PM PDT
My biggest problem with this site is it's lack of a tag search function so I set up a simple to use Campaign search engine that the front pagers should think about turning into a primary link on the main page.

Henry Waxman "we’re not going to compromise"
Thu May 31, 2007 at 02:03:35 PM PDT
The quote in the title refers to the future battle over ending the Iraq occupation.
This morning ImpeachKingBushII wrote a diary" that deserves an early rescue because it is an example of a prominent politician, Henry Waxman, engaging the blogoshere directly.
We all want our progressive politicians and potential Democratic leaders to engage us here in the blogoshere. Recently Henry Waxman did an interview with Truthig.com that needs to get some attention to encourage him and others to directly engage bloggers.
We need to show our leadership that engaging with the blogoshere is a productive way to engage the populace and get their "message" out, which is always important to them.
Go to TruthDig.com and read the transcript or listen to the interview as a way of encouraging Chairman Waxman in his quest to return some accountability of the out of control executive branch that George the third and Karl created.
Below the fold I will provide a few choice quotes from the transcript.
pResidential Talking Point = War Crime
Thu May 24, 2007 at 03:40:13 PM PDT
I want to spend a few minutes with you discussing why the often used talking point "fighting them over there, so we won't have to fight them over here" should, by definition, be a war crime.
How can any sane individual believe that they have the right to contribute to the deaths of what could easily be over a million people, occupy two foreign countries, install puppet regimes, and generally destroy two other countries not be a war crime when the main justification was that we don't want a group of zealots to attack our country?
I can't fathom how anyone believes we can.
Isolated Coral Reef Decimated
Sun May 13, 2007 at 11:29:48 AM PDT
I've been away for a few months but this morning I saw a heartbreaking report while watching CurrentTV that deserves further attention.
In Feb. of 2004 National Geographic Magazine did a story on the Phoenix Islands Coral Reef system which stated
"Incredible—I've never seen anything like it!" said David, a specialist in coral reefs who has spent more than a thousand hours underwater studying ocean life. I also was deeply moved. As vice president for global marine programs at the New England Aquarium, I've made it my goal to find Earth's last pockets of primal ocean, those underwater havens that have remained unspoiled as long as the ocean can remember. Here in this lagoon we had discovered such a place.
Nine months later an expedition from the Planetary Coral Reef Foundation found a horrifyingly decimated environment in this once pristine area. The lagoon's reef was dead!
More details below!
What's our Next Move?
Sat Dec 09, 2006 at 08:50:15 PM PDT
Tonight's victory by William "dollar Bill" Jefferson creates a quandary for the new Democratic Congress.
This is an opportunity for us to prove that our goal of cleaning house in the federal government is not ideologically driven.
I hope Nancy Pelosi and the new Chairman of the House Ethics Commission initiates investigations of Jefferson as one of their first actions come Jan 3rd.
The newest trolls among us!
Mon Dec 04, 2006 at 09:48:22 AM PDT
We are all aware that this site is regularly visited by trolls. Wikipedia defines a troll as follows.
In Internet terminology, a troll is a person who enters an established community such as an online discussion forum and intentionally tries to cause disruption, most often in the form of posting inflammatory, off-topic, insulting, or otherwise inappropriate messages.
But the entymology actually comes from their activity of "trolling" the Internet, or communities such as DailyKos in order to accomplish their goal.
The troll attempts to pass as a legitimate participant, sharing the group's common interests and concerns
The trolls I am calling out are "Candidate Trolls"
Jordanian News Conference Open Thread
Thu Nov 30, 2006 at 12:07:40 AM PDT
"As Long as the Iraqi Government wants us there". That is the quote this morning from Resident Bush that caught my ear a few minutes ago!
I believe that al-Sadr will create a no confidence vote for al-Maliki's government followed by a re-organization of the Government and a new interim Iraqi Prime Minister who will ask the Americans to leave, this allows Bush to save face, the troops to get out, McCain to triumph how more troops would have kept the whole thing from happening.
This may also lead to McCain's Presidential bid where he will re-instate the draft to increase the military's size for a new Iraqi Middle Eastern incursion.
Consider this an Open Thread for Bush's current News conference.
Soldier Planned to Bomb School!
Wed Nov 29, 2006 at 07:07:59 PM PDT
He even killed a kitten!
Miles had become "very violent" since returning from Iraq, the UPD report said. He told officers that Miles hanged and then beat a kitten inside their apartment before displaying the cat on the flag pole in front of SFA's Military Science Building, the report said.
No snark here! Two Texas National Guard Soldiers, one of which had recently returned to Texas, had a pipe bomb, plans for larger explosives, and one of the two had used a small explosive to damage a Virgin Mary statue.
My bid for Contributing Editor
Tue Nov 28, 2006 at 11:31:38 AM PDT
I wish to put my name into the hat as a candidate for Contributing Editor (Front Pager) here at Daily Kos.
I am not one of the prolific and highest recommended diarist, but most of my diaries do make Jotter's list.
I will outline my vision of what I will do as a Contributing Editor and my vision for the site below.
Brother, can you spare $40M
Mon Nov 27, 2006 at 12:44:18 PM PDT
Here is my propsal for a 200 challenger plan that I mentioned in yesterdays diary.
I have spent the last few weeks analyzing the voting pattern nationwide of the congressional races. I posted three diaries with graphs to show the overall vote pattern (13% Democratic shift), the effects of attack spending (no noticeable affect), and the overall spending pattern (too many unsupported races).
Two thirds of the Congressional races had little or no meaningful opposition and that needs to change.
I hope the Republicans continue to give up on two thirds of the Democratically controlled districts, but we need to provide meaningful opposition in every district.
I have a plan which is outlined below.
By the Numbers! Attack Ad Spending
Sun Nov 26, 2006 at 01:58:21 PM PDT

I put together a spreadsheet that covers the spending and voting in the 2006 Congressional races. I used that to analyze the spending on attack ads.
The NRCC was responsible for almost all of the $37 Million in Republican attacks on Democratic Congressional Candidates.
The DCCC was responsible for the vast majority of the $31 Million in attack ad spending with MoveOn.org and Emily's list contributing in a few races.
Democrats spent $17M on attacks in 18 of the pick-ups while Republicans spent $19M in those races.
More charts and conclusions below the fold.
Democratic Congressional gains analyzed!
Fri Nov 17, 2006 at 02:15:52 PM PDT
Doesn't this look good?

The chart shows our gains over 2004.
Below the fold is a detailed analysis of our gains and a couple charts that show how close the Republican Party is to falling into irrelevance.
Henry Waxman Should Investigate how we Lost the War!
Tue Nov 14, 2006 at 01:08:25 PM PDT
One of the Republicans major talking points prior to the election was how the Democrats were going to waste the countries time by having dozens of meaningless investigations. This is coming from the same crowd who had investigations about the Clinton's
Christmas Card list and the
White House Cat's Fan Club.
Newsweek released a poll on Saturday that says that 89% of the American people want investigations into the contracts awarded in support of the Iraq war. I believe that is where we should start investigations since, for political purposes, a vast majority of the American Public Agree.
Henry, we need to investigate why we lost Iraq!
