From the Earth to the Moon
Tue Jun 10, 2008 at 01:29:57 PM PDT
I was not around when the fever for space flight started. I have seen that speech by Kennedy about reaching the moon. It was an obsession... a competition against the Russians to get to the moon first. It seemed a daunting task, but we made it to the moon. And that is part of our proud history.
Where is our call to arms about energy? Yes, there is a growing throng of voices calling for change in our energy habits. There are those around our country who work to achieve that goal. And yet, there is not that nationalistic call to be the first nation to find that alternative that could break our oil addiction.
All of our Problems are Because of the DEMS!
Wed May 14, 2008 at 06:23:24 AM PDT
My brother forwarded this email you will find below the jump. I was amazed at how they placed the blame for all our problems on the dems taking congress in 2006. I don't even know how to respond to this obvious bullshit. I mean, let's forget how the lack of oversight on the banking system created these subprime mortgages which were then sold of in bits and pieces and then resulted in a meltdown and a burst in the real estate bubble, weakening dollar values and our sad state today. but that is all the dems fault. yeah right.
My letter to MSNBC
Thu Mar 27, 2008 at 08:13:29 AM PDT
I know. They aren't going to care. But I felt a little better having gotten my words onto the keyboard. Not the same as pen and paper, but... eh. I will be sending letters to sponsors as well. Will it do any good? Probably not. But I am going to do it anyway. I am tired of having a news media that has no journalistic integrity. Below the fold I will paste my letter so that you can critique it for me. And maybe get your own anger regarding the media out on paper or keyboard and give them a piece of your mind.
Why people refuse to see
Wed Mar 19, 2008 at 07:48:33 PM PDT
I sent a link to the obama race speech the other day to my friends and family. Well, I got an email from my brother saying he won't watch it because obama is unpatriotic and unamerican and shouldn't be president. then he sent me an email he had gotten which i will share below the fold. I feel sad inside for the unwillingness for my family to see or hear anything.
Getting to Know Your Candidates- Barack Obama
Sat Mar 01, 2008 at 06:04:27 PM PDT
If you look around the internet, you can find this stuff about the candidates. I was looking to see if I could find the MSNBC biographies of the candidates, but I found this instead; an A&E biography from 2007. If you can catch the biographies on MSNBC, I think it's worth your time. But please take the time to watch these if you can. I think they are very interesting. This one is for Barack Obama. Tomorrow I will try to get a hillary clinton one up too.
Useless Funny Diary
Fri Feb 08, 2008 at 04:56:59 PM PDT
OK. I was looking at yes we can video and others, and came across some funny ones. Now, they may be stupid, but they sure are funny. And we could use a few good laughs about now, what with wanting to surrender to the terrorists, as john mccain would like to have us believe. Well, if you are not in the mood for stupid humor, then you might as well walk away now. But if you feel like having a good laugh, please jump with me.
Some funny stuff
Mon Feb 04, 2008 at 01:22:49 PM PDT
Now, I know that we are all about our candidates, but there is one thing that I think we can agree on. Swiftboating is not cool. But it can be funny if you make it funny!! And when it is an equal opportunity joke.
Letter to the Boss (not a candidate diary)
Thu Jan 31, 2008 at 09:51:30 AM PDT
I have not written a diary here in a long time. My head hurts at the amount of vitriolic animous people seem to be launching at each other these days. But I feel very strongly right now about an issue that might resonate with many right now, so I risk flame wars to broach a topic that has little to do with politics, but is important to me.
My husband's employer has recently sought to cut some of bob's co-worker's pay as well as minimize their bonuses they would recieve. This has obviously made several people upset where bob works. Last night they had a conference call to discuss a union that they had been whispering about for a couple of weeks. And this morning they met with company officials who had apparently gotten wind of the union talk. So i just sat and wrote a letter which i most likely would never send, but which i felt like sharing with someone. So follow me to the jump if you want to hear more.
Administration Stifles Surgeon General Talk
Tue Jul 10, 2007 at 03:16:23 PM PDT
I guess I would have to say I stopped being surprised by the brazenness of this administration long ago, but then I would have to recall countless times that I have thought that true only to have been surprised by them again. Maybe that is more because I thought there was nowhere else for them to go, but they find a way. Too bad they can't use that ability to find us a way out of Iraq. Hmm... But I digress. I was just reading an article from the NY Times entitled Former Surgeon General Says He Was Muzzled . I know, what's so new about that? Well, follow me below the jump and I'll let some pent up anger flow through my fingertips and onto the internet page.
What did I do that was so wrong?
Mon Jan 22, 2007 at 10:32:45 AM PDT
I know many of you are going to wonder why I am diarying about this. I am so infuriated right now, and i know many of you will probably know what I mean when you hear it. many of you will probably tell me to get a life and get over it. The fact that I put it out there causes me to expect some response. right? well, here goes.
Reynolds Attack ads seem to be working
Fri Oct 20, 2006 at 09:39:18 AM PDT
I am becoming increasingly annoyed at the onslaught of negative attack ads on my local channels. I know this is a heated election and that Tom Reynolds is in peril but COME ON! First there was this
ad in which reynolds apologized for not knowing what exactly was in those emails. Then there was an ad from davis saying reynolds covered something up. It's like watching a tennis match. ANd it is just getting worse.
Bush is Coming to Town!
Wed Mar 08, 2006 at 03:32:45 PM PDT
Hello. Here is my one diary for the day. I haven't posted one in awhile, and i know I should check to see if there is one posted already, but I scanned and didn't see one, so I think it's ok.
Bush is hard at work right now. And with all the hard work he is doing, it's hard to imagine how he could find the time to campaign for his buddies too! According to my local news station, though it is not official yet... Bush is going to be making an appearance in Canandaigua next friday.
Slap your christianity on your bumper and drive up to heaven!
Fri Jan 06, 2006 at 08:50:24 AM PDT
I posted this to a site I visit frequently, and I have decided perhaps it's something good to post here so we can have a discussion about some of the ideas people choose to wear on their vehicle. Sure, we have all seen the Support the Troops magnets, but why stop there when we can go around telling everyone how we feel about things like evolution and prayer in schools. Things like
Evolution is Science Fiction
Below the fold see some of the bumper stickers available at this site along with my comments about them. But by all means, go see them allfor a good laugh.
A Christmas Tale
Wed Dec 21, 2005 at 08:01:44 AM PDT
Oh how I miss the days of my youth, when Christmas was much different then it is today. When life was so much easier, and I got two weeks off from school.
Some evacuated, while others get to stay?
Fri Sep 09, 2005 at 11:43:59 AM PDT
I am jut curious, as i watch CNN story about the owner of a hotel/restaurant?? who is rebuilding or whatever at his hotel... why does he get to stay while everyone else is forced to evacuate?
Yes, I understand that they need places for rescuers to stay, but in a city that is 'unliveable', why would you have some business owners stay and start fixing their places up and get electric there and all that, when you are arresting others at gunpoint because they refuse to leave.
Cathartic Poetry.... Hope you don't mind my sharing.
Wed Sep 07, 2005 at 05:00:00 PM PDT
I wrote this poem today as I was waiting for my daughter's bus. I have been trying to find a way to put words to my thoughts regarding the images and news of the past week. Let me know what you think, and perhaps use this diary as a way to express your own thoughts and feelings. Nothing will make this better.... but talking about it might help a little to clear our heads and see where we need to be heading in the future.
Ha Ha... Anderson Cooper show outing Bush cuts for levy
Thu Sep 01, 2005 at 04:21:12 PM PDT
They are doing a story about the plan to fix the levies.. and then bush cutting funding for the levies plus the stretched army corps of engineers thanks to iraq. there is no guarantee that this would have prevented this disaster, but the levvies have been eroding.
key things... they KNEW about the issues. the continual eroding of the levies could sink new orleans...
lol... anderson cooper just cut off the lady congratulating congress... he is like, i have been seeing dead bodies for four days. and listening to politicians congratulating themselves angers people. can you understand that? lol. it's not funny, i'm just happy he's not taking that bullshit!
I Just want to say kudos to Harry Connick Jr....
Thu Sep 01, 2005 at 09:09:15 AM PDT
He has gone back to New Orleans to help out. He has been looking to ensure the safety of his family members there, but he has been outspoken about the state of the city and the lack of help. He just apologized for something he said earlier regarding lawlessness... he says people are desperate. thank you mr connick... someone needs to speak out for the people that are in this situation!
another thing.... look for rioting to start happening soon. you want lawlessness... keep not helping people!
