Why can't the mainstream media call this race straight? Stories like this one make me sick. Shouldn't the headline read, "Kerry leading in newspaper endorsements" or "More newspapers switching to Kerry from Bush this year?" Maybe there is a national split in the polls, but the newspaper endorsements and their respective circulations don't reflect that. Geesh.
Ever so often you're listening to our great president and he says something to which you reply, what the #@$%^ is he talking about? Well, that happened again last night.
In our lengthy discussion of Kerry's response to Bush's hypothetical question regarding his use of force against Iraq vote, I don't remember if we paid attention to Bush's answer to his own question.
I don't know if this was posted today already. Kerry said about Bush's response on 9/11, "Had I been reading to children and had my top aide whisper in my ear that America is under attack, I would have told those kids very nicely and politely that the president of the United States has something that he needs to attend to."
As would anyone else with a brain. I wonder what BushCo will do to rebut this. Has Kerry ever talked about Bush's 9/11 response before?
I've been looking for any update on how many of the people who were improperly purged from the Florida voting list in 2000 are now on the voting list for 2004. The answer to that question would make me feel better about our chances in Florida. Does anyone know the latest on this issue?
After the private viewing of the "hundreds" of prison abuse photos in Congress, I haven't seen a significant number of those photographs anywhere. Where are they? Did anyone try to get them through FOIA? Did any government official block their release? It seems odd that all of a sudden no more photos are being shown. I thought no final decision was made regarding whether the other photos would be made public. Did I miss something?
I know there was a diary regarding Gen. Zinni's appearance on Hardball yesterday, but Bush's guy Terry Holt had me in stitches later in that program. These quotes are too good to pass up and they deserve special attention. Here we go . . .
Let me get this straight. On Wednesday, Bush goes on Arabic-speaking networks. He does not apologize to the Iraqi people, who he knows are listening and who are directly affected by the prison torture mess.
The next day, after even more awful photos are released, Bush tells the media that he told Abdullah, from Jordan, that he was sorry for what happened. Again, no actual apology to Iraqis. But the media covers Thursday by proclaiming "Bush apologizes."
Did I miss the part where Bush apologized to the Iraqi people? What is so hard about going on Arabic-speaking networks and saying, "I apologize to the people of Iraq for what happened?" Why can't this guy ever do the right thing as his first course of action? Bush has got to go.
From yesterday's CA visit. "My opponent says he approves of bold actions in the world, but only if other countries don't object."
First, Kerry never said that, nor could anything Kerry said over the course of this campaign be construed to mean that. Second, did Kerry ask the world for permission to go into Afghanistan? I'm getting sick of this right wing talking point.
Yesterday's "Talking Points" from that paragon of truth and political independence got me ticked. While I hate to give any more attention to that right-wing phony, check this out.
