Seattle PI - "Dailykos.com reports"

An editorial in the Sunday Seattle PI says:
"the DailyKos.com reports that the base at which the nuke-carrying B-52 landed, in Barksdale, La., is "a jumping off point for Middle East operations."
3 troops "missing" - Serious turn for the worse
Sat May 12, 2007 at 05:31:13 PM PDT
This is bad news. If the insurgents start capturing US troops, this is a deadly serious turn in the wrong direction. As G Gordon Libby said: "If you have them by the balls, the hearts and minds will soon follow." This bold capture of US troops is a direct shot to the groin. The question is: What is happening or has happened to these soldiers? Depending on the answer to that question, the will of the people who still believe in this war will be strongly tested, perhaps even shattered. As for the rest of us, the reality based community, we don't need to be told how serious this is.
Hermann Goering quote; Bush Iraq Plan
Fri Sep 09, 2005 at 08:15:28 AM PDT
"
Naturally, the common people don't want war, but after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. This is easy.
All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country."
Hermann Goering, Speaking at the Nuremberg Trials after World War II
I read this on page 171 of the John Crawford book "The Last True Story I'll ever tell." Iraq war book.
Buck Stops With Lyndie England (or Newsweek...)
Sun May 22, 2005 at 04:53:58 PM PDT
A presidential administration reflects the man at the top. Harry Truman proudly displayed a plaque emblazoned with: "The Buck Stops Here." Bush on the other hand accepts responsibility for nothing. His motto is "The Buck Stops with Lyndie England" (or whoever else is convenient, such as Newsweek.)
I knew dozens of kids like Bush when I was in school. They were bullies and blowhards the lot of them. Zero integrity and zero intellectual curiosity. Many of these people ended up in jail because they lacked a moral compass. (For the defining portrait of a Bush-like prep school bully, watch "The Scent of a Woman" with Al Pacino.)
I can't believe we elected (appointed) one of these lazy bullies as President of the United States (remember the mockery of Bush's "Bring `em on" taunt?)
Cut YOUR benefits to pay Paris Hilton's bar tab today!
Sun May 08, 2005 at 12:10:22 PM PDT
You ever notice that when Bush talks about Social Security, he never mentions Bush tax cuts as part of the problem? The reason he never mentions this is simple: these tax cuts are "off the table." Instead what he proposes is cutting YOUR future benefits, all so he can continue humungous tax cuts to millionaires, billionaires and corporations. He wants to cut YOUR future benefits, all so Paris Hilton can get a huge tax cut TODAY to pay her bar tab.
The reason Bush is going after Social Security is precisely because it is the only federal program that is above water and functioning perfectly. Bush can't stand the fact this program is in the black for the next 40 years (way longer with a few tweaks proposed by democrats) because the vast majority of this money goes to the working class earning less than 90K per year (94% of us!)
1,379 dead since "Bring 'em on" Bush taunt
Sun May 01, 2005 at 09:05:38 PM PDT
Since July 2, 2003, when President Bush whipped out his undersized weenie and taunted the Iraqi insurgents with the ill conceived phrase "bring 'em on!", 1,379 US soldiers have been killed in Iraq. God knows how many more soldiers were seriously wounded during this time frame.
Talk about STUPID! You never give the opposing team something to put on the locker room wall! It is totally obvious this stupid bully was never in combat! It is also the epitome of arrogance, irresponsibility and immorality. It is the epitome of being a brain-dead frat boy who never grew up.
Social Security is OUR money
Sun May 01, 2005 at 10:42:48 AM PDT
I think the Social Security debate all comes down to one thing.
Bush and conservatives think the Social Security tax is THEIR money. They think that the government is giving people Social Security as an entitlement. On the other had, most people think of this as OUR money, with the government just doing the administrative bookkeeping.
If you are like Bush, and you think of FICA as simply another source of revenue, you are going to be very upset about losing this to pay Soc Sec benefits. If you look at it like most people, as OUR money in the first place, Bush's whole philosophy falls to pieces.
Paid Bush Trolls infilitrate Kos?
Fri Apr 29, 2005 at 09:05:18 PM PDT
I haven't seen this type of thing for a few months, but all of a sudden I started seeing a few Bush trolls, in this forum no less, supporting the Bush Piratize Deform Social Security plan. It is almost like a bunch of paid trolls were trotted out by the big money supporting this bogus plan.
God I hope people don't get suckered by this bullshit. It was bad enough during the election to see these bogus trolls, but now it really makes my blood boil.
Invest Soc Sec surplus in Euros!
Sun Apr 10, 2005 at 06:22:00 PM PDT
If the Social Security Trust Fund Treasury Bills are worthless IOUs, like Bush insinuates (see below), why should the working class continue to invest this ever-expanding surplus in Treasury bills for the next 13 years? I say put them in a safer investment, such as Euros or gold.
