It gets better...
I'm almost a life-long Ohioan---if you don't count the first 5yrs in a foreign country and the several years in a NYC college. I consider myself an Ohioan, regrettably, and think that I have a good grasp on my fellow neighbors. What I see is that most Ohioans don't have a good grasp on the political issues in our state. Generally, Ohioans don't get heavily into politics and don't seek out issues and candidates' positions unless there is a big issue that plays out in the local media. Even so, Ohioans seem to have very short political attention spans. I've said it before, if it's not sports then they don't care! Not even if it impacts their daily lives and jobs.
The reason that Dems keep losing and we keep losing issues that are important to us is because the OH Dems are woefully unorganised and inept.
What made me really mad was that the chairman cracked a joke, saying that there would be media conducting "exit polls" after the electors leave. They all laughed.
Then, later, Blackwell got up and said that Auditor of State Betty Montgomery wanted to know if there would be a "paper trail" of the votes. They all laughed again.
I am so pissed off. It's bad enough to vote on false popular majority votes in OH, but it's another thing to demean people with jokes like that.
I just caught this link at DU, so just catching it now, but one part caught my attention when the player loaded and audio streamed---

Article excerpted below,
What if there's another way to approach this?
What if, instead of only going district by district detailing all of the many and various problems, how about we contrast those problematic areas against areas with few problems? The result may very well show what we've already seen here (as shown in the graphs compiled by kossacks), that Republican majority areas were mostly hunky-dory whilst their next door Democratic areas may not have been.
Congressman Conyers is travelling to OH to hold field hearings. I wonder the impact it would make if we have testimony after testimony of voting problems and then punctuate in between with testimony detailing voting as it should be---quick, easy, few challenges...wouldn't that help to paint a picture of overwhelming ease of voting in Republican areas as contrasted against the long lines, malfunctioning equipment, and challenges in the Democratic?
The article's secondary heading states "The Christian right and the Christian left are engaged in a debate over who 'owns' Jesus--and whether Dubya is a force for good or evil." Many grey boxes below, but this article just contained so much of relevance.
