Guard units took local equipment to Iraq?

Thu Sep 01, 2005 at 10:16:26 PM PDT

Months back, I remember hearing on Air America radio the National Guard units sent to Iraq brought their own equipment when they went over.

Here's the question: Let's say 40% of the Louisiana National Guard is out of the state because of this Iraq fiasco. What are the chances that they took only 40% of their heavy trucks, helicopters etc?

Does anybody have a clue? is it possible that the 40% took 80% of the heavy equipment we now need so badly?

I know it's not really a diary, but it has been making me CRAZY trying to pin down numbers.

Chavez to aid U.S. Poor

Mon Aug 29, 2005 at 08:00:13 PM PDT

I have to give it to Venezuela's president for coming up with a diabolically clever offer of cut-rate fuel oil and free eye operations to America's poor.

Cast by the Right and the MSM as a communist, strongman and sometimes Al Quaeda sympathizer, the popularly elected and popularly re-installed leader has made an offer which, if picked up by the MSM, will drive the right absolutely bonkers!

From venezuelanalysis.com

Caracas, Venezuela, August 28, 2005 --Venezuela's Chavez said to visiting Rev. Jesse Jackson today that he would like Jackson to help with finding a way to provide discounted heating oil and free eye operations to poor communities in the U.S. Pointing out that Venezuela provides 1.5 million barrels of oil per day to the U.S., Chavez said, "we would like to provide a part of this 1.5 million barrels of oil to poor communities."

Does this get me banned?

My roomate was banned from DailyKos along with an unknown number of others the other day for engaging in discussions of "conspiracy theories". I am putting forth a defense for him since he cannot.

He mentioned an alleged CIA operation known as "Operation Mockingbird" in a brief comment, but as the comment merely suggested pondering a link, there's no way it could have been the reason for throwing him out of Daily Kos.

He did mention actual details concerning something called "Operation Northwoods", so I am risking my membership here in order to set the record straight.

Kos, please follow this link to declassified documents relating to Operation Northwoods housed on George Washington University servers:

I'm not saying this is not your site to do with as you please, Kos, I'm saying you made a mistake and I trust you'll do the right thing.

Thanks for your time.
