Monday Night Media thread

Hey folks. Whatcha watchin? Or hearing? Or reading?
I don't have any breaking news or wonderous political insights. Just offering a space to discuss the latest books, films, shows, and music that you've had the pleasure or displeasure of experiencing recently. maybe you'd like to recommend or unrecommend something to your fellow Kossacks.
As for myself, the last film I saw was Pirates: Dead Man's Chest. Overall, I was disappointed with it. Too many zany jokes and extended, belabored fight sequences, not enough plot or character.
And recent music: Charles Mingus. Good stuff there. and I'm looking forward to Ratatat's new album.
No recent books (who reads books when there are blogs!) or magazines. I don't really watch much TV these days either. I like Mythbusters though.
How 'bout you guys? I'll check in later. Right now, I'm sitting down to watch Dr. Strangelove for the first time.
Taking Down Wingnuts Online: Practical Advice (UPDATED)
Mon Jul 03, 2006 at 10:31:36 AM PDT
Now that the right-wing blogosphere has resorted to advocating violence toward their opponents and their opponents children, they have crossed the line of moral decency and can no longer claim that their vitriol is all in good sport or "a joke."
Now that all their cards are on the table, we have a weapon with which to silence them, to keep them from spreading their hate: the decency of the companies providing their online services.
All online companies have a basic Terms of Service agreement, which those who are advocating violence are in clear violation of.

I Am More Angry Than I Have Ever Been In My Life and It Is A Righteous and Purposeful Indignation

I'm sure this will get swallowed by the Dkos diary machine in short order, but I just wanted to register with you my distillation of the past week. It rehashes much of the information that has been found here in the past 7 days and contains my hair-pulling disgust.
I've sent it to everyone I know and want to share with this community.
It concerns New Orleans.
Bush: the Anti-Roosevelt
Sun May 08, 2005 at 07:15:49 AM PDT
Looks like I was premature on this one. About 15 minutes after I originally posted this diary yesterday afternoon, Bush's insults to FDR started making waves. I decided to pull my post and rework it a bit. It's a little compare and contrast of Bush's vs FDR's records, focused mostly on the "War on Terror," which looks pathetic compared to FDR's achievements in WWII.
Give it a read and let's ask ourselves:
What other ways could we say that Bush is the Anti-Roosevelt?

Sixty years ago today, German President Karl Dönitz surrendered to Allied forces, one week after Adolf Hitler committed suicide in his Berlin bunker. That day marked the end of combat in Europe. Three months later, Japan unconditionally surrendered to the United States. The total amount of time between Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor and its surrender was 1351 days.
On May 20, 2005, the same number of days will have passed since the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
