My Aperiodic Vent

First, lets read what subject A had to say in 2004:
But look at the region whence al Qaeda came. Not only has the Taliban been overthrown, Afghanistan just this week adopted a new constitution agreed to by a loya jirga (grand council) representing every part of this fractured tribal society. It is an astonishing development in a country with so little experience in representative government and ravaged by more than a quarter-century of civil war. And it came about as a result of American force of arms followed by American diplomacy.

My father worked as a union worker at Caterpillar. He made a living wage and was able to provide for our family. His job sucked. In the summertime the factory was hot as hell. Most of the jobs were tedious. Right before he retired, he actually had a job he enjoyed. He tested and troubleshot finished tractors. Most days, the tractors functioned properly. But when one had a problem, and my dad had to hunt down the short in the thousands of wires, he actually felt like he was working. When he found the bad connector, replaced it, and the electical system worked right, he was happy. He would come home in a such a happy mood.
Then Reagan came.
Democrats, Unionists, and Neocons..Oh My!
Fri Jun 20, 2008 at 07:04:39 PM PDT
I'm baffled why people are upset about the FISA bill. It's not like there is no history is Democrats caving.
In fact, here is some current history. Democrats, Unionists, and Neocons banding together. That's right. Democrats and John Bolton, Frank Gaffney Jr, Max Boot, Fred Kagan all arm and arm fighting the fight together.
Scoop Jackson lives!
Religious/Racist Jerkfaces

Liveing in bumfuck Georgia, I seldom read the local paper. Almost everytime I do, I go ballistic.
But I buy it for my father-in-law. And today I took a peek. Cal Thomas had an article bitching about Obama's view on religion. Obama has a fairly open stance. Cal Thomas has the southern stance. Jesus saves. If you don't believe in Jesus, you disrespect the Catholics and Evangelicals. Oddly enough, for all his pro-Israel support, he kind of drops the fact that Judiasm isn't so strong on this Jesus thing.
Bush Lied: It is that simple
Mon Jun 09, 2008 at 06:54:46 PM PDT
So the Washington Post does its best job of trying to stem the bleeding that is the Bush adminstration today with Fred Hiatt's editorial: Bush Lied? If it were so simple.
His logic used throughout is that since Bush had a document, a piece of intel, anything to back up his claim, it was 'substantiated'. He used a word in the report that was meant to mean something completely different. The report looked at the administration to see if it outright pulled shit out of its ass vice hunted for some piece of intel that fits its policy. It found that a couple of times it really did pull shit out of its ass. But most of the time they were able to find some intel, weak as it was, to justify their claims. So by switching the meaning, he makes it appear that 'the intelligence community' substantiated his bullshit claims.
Thomas Friedman: Spokesman for Greed
Sun Jun 08, 2008 at 08:11:22 PM PDT
I don't know why Thomas 'Six Months' Friedman bothers me so much. Well actually I do. How can a bullshit artists who cares about investment potentional be sold as someone that understands the Middle East social environment.
After reading today's article, it really was crystal clear. But before talking about Friedman, a description of the Israeli economic situation from the BBC (Israeli economy is like ours, the really rich make rules, get thousands handed to them in envelopes, blame everyone else for the ills of the country...).
Israel's economic growth has forged a wider gap between the rich and the poor, and in so doing the otherwise welcome prosperity has had the peculiar effect of undermining some of the values that used to unite the country's people.

So, how does the esteemd New York Times describe this:
The reason? Israel is a country that is hard-wired to compete in a flat world.

That Brilliant David Brooks (warning graphic content)
Fri May 16, 2008 at 08:34:46 PM PDT
As I was sipping my Messiah Bold Ale, the official beer of drunks for Hizballah, when I came across David Brooks latest article in the esteemed NYT about Obama and Hizballah.
In typical snide Brooks fashion, he lashes out at Obama for his policy while providing no history. No solution other than the failed status quo.
You see, in NYT-land, wearing a suit, talking about 'democracy' and 'human rights' in front of a camera or in print are all that matter. That is why he hates Chomskyland.
I will explain below, but there are graphic images.
I Blame Iran
Tue Apr 08, 2008 at 06:18:16 PM PDT
Thank you Lindsey Graham and Ambassador Crocker for showing just how evil Iran is.
You mention that Iran forced Hizballah to 'attack' Israel before a UN vote on Iran.
That is just the tip of the iceberg. For Iran's evil fingers lurk far deeper.
We all know know that the Israeli military is such a poorly trained force that a strong group like Hizballah can do whatever they want/whenever they want against them. This is obvious. Why tomorrow at 8:00 they could just march into Haifa and the IDF couldn't stop them.
Obama's Foreign Policy
Thu Mar 20, 2008 at 05:56:31 PM PDT
This statement in today's Washington Post editorial says all about the thinking in Washington:
"every political goal the Bush administration has aimed at for five years, from the establishment of a stable government to agreement by Iraq's neighbors to support it."
since when was this his goal?
The editorial implies that Bush has actually been working at this goal, and the Obama is dreaming that he can accomplish this.
Obama's Toast
Fri Mar 14, 2008 at 08:21:52 PM PDT
I think his toast is cinnamon and raisan. And it tastes good.
But that will come later.
First, reality.
My wife just returned from taking our daughter to Horton hears a Who. It had a very liberal message. At the end, when the message was everyone deserved to be heard, no matter how small, there was a standing ovation.
This was Augusta, Georgia.
Let's Jerk With Syria for Grins and Giggles
Tue Mar 11, 2008 at 07:11:59 PM PDT
I realize we are still messing with Iran. I mean, how dare a third world nation take something like a self-supporting energy program on. That is not what brown people do. They rely on us to give them what we feel they need.
But on to Syria.
I can't take it anymore
Thu Jan 24, 2008 at 06:19:01 PM PDT
Paul Wolfowitz is yet again working for our government.
Wolfowitz to head US arms panel
Paul Wolfowitz, the former president of the World Bank, is to head a new US advisory panel on arms control and disarmament, the US state department has said.
From here
So when a nice document comes out talking about all the falsehoods leading to our war, with Wolfowitz being one of the prime figures, what do they do? Hire him again.
For those BBC lovers
Tue Jan 08, 2008 at 09:24:27 PM PDT
So there was this 'major event' between the Iranian Navy and our vessels in the Persian Arabian Gulf.
Sure you heard all about how those evil Iranians in their speedboats made the US Navy in their multi-million dollar advanced weapons systems fear for their lives.
But it gets worse.
Here is the BBC article. It has video and audio.
Both telling.
Dear Diary
Thu Dec 20, 2007 at 06:19:35 PM PDT
Today started out good.
While driving into work, I heard the usually establisment supporter Dave Harris of the AJC do a wonderful peace on the 10 anti-Semetic asses in New York who attacked a Jewish person and the Muslim that came to his defense.
I heard that and thought: "He's on my nice list. No lump of coal for Christmas this year from me."
Work was the usual....
Then I drove to pick up lunch. I listen to Neal Boortz on my luchtime sojourns just to make sure my BP doesn't fall into into the safe zone.
We have no plan..
Tue Nov 20, 2007 at 07:00:38 PM PDT
The Sudanese cloak their obstructionism in anti-imperialist, anti-foreign rhetoric: Intervention in Darfur is a front for white powers again lusting for African conquests. It is an old and shabby trick but one that still has currency in African and Middle Eastern lands traumatized by the colonial era.
Thus writes the esteemed Washington Post columnist Hoagland.
We have no plan. Nope. None whatsover. It is all their fault.
Torture, Control of Foreign Countries....
Fri Nov 09, 2007 at 06:11:41 PM PDT
Well today we saw the Democratic leadership isn't all that far from Cheney (or the Nazis) when it comes to torture. Dershowitz uses Nazi Germany as a good example of how torture can be useful. Think about that for just 10 seconds. If you don't feel like taking a shower, I really don't want to talk to you.
So I want to move to the Middle East. A place that Shirley we can all agree on.
And not a country like Saudi Arabia, that is full of rich Wahabis that fund terrorism that we ignore, or Egypt that imprisons journalists that dare say the elderly statesman in charge of the country is one chicken wing away from Allah, but Lebanon.
ok, I'm pissed
Sat Nov 03, 2007 at 06:53:11 PM PDT
I dare anyone to defend this bullshit.
Fellow AEI fellow Charles Murray suggested that the rigors of Talmudic study drove out the dull Jews centuries ago. "If you were dumb and a Jew," said the philo-Semitic Murray, "it was a lot easier to be a Christian." Murray, best known for his incendiary book about race and intelligence, "The Bell Curve," explored Jewish smarts in an April article in Commentary titled "Jewish Genius."
Dana Milbank, Washington Post
I would not have seen this racist article had it not been for another racist article in Haaretz:
But what if Judaism as a genetic inheritance is compatible with Judaism as a cultural inheritance? And what if the genes that make Jews smart also make them sick? If one kind of superiority comes at the price of another kind of inferiority, and if the transmission of Jewish values drives the transmission of Jewish genes, does that make the genetics and the superiority easier to swallow?
Apparently so.

Iran: A Perspective
Wed Oct 24, 2007 at 07:31:14 PM PDT
Here is a crude attempt at explain why the entire political debate on Iran (and debate in general) makes me uninspired.
By 2005, ring tones generating more than $2 billion in annual worldwide revenues. Real tones, which are often excerpts from pop songs, have become popular as ringtones. A recent innovation is the singtone, whereby the user's voice is recorded to a popular track and then "tuned-up" automatically to sound good. This can then be downloaded as a ringtone or sent to another user's mobile phones.

Chrome Rims -- Where The Real Bling Is At
Wahington DC June 2, 2005; The AIADA newsletter reported that a Washington Post report Thursday features the ever-expanding rim business -- the $3.1 billion powerhouse of the $31 billion after-market industry that caters to Americans’ desire for automobiles and glitz and glamour.
