What's Playing on Your IPod Right Now?
Mon Apr 28, 2008 at 05:12:45 PM PDT
I've had a long stressful day and weekend--looked at dailykos for three minutes to see I need to not read any diaries (except maybe this one I am creating)--
And since diaries real estate is being cluttered on Wright, etc., I have little conscience posting this diary. Feel free to post Pootie, Puppy pics, talk about trivial things, maybe even discuss what you are looking forward to at this summer's Netroots (which I will be attending the first time).
Meanwhile, I'll have my music on and doing also much delayed housework in my apartment today (might as well do it, as the manager is having it's every other months expections--this time to set bug traps--even though I haven't seen any bugs, but if there are, all the more reason to clean :) ).
And from time to time, I'll post another track here and be amused by other persons' tracks--call this a cool off period, as I don't want to read the ranting and raving today.
Right now my Ipod is playing: "Charlie Don't Surf" by the Clash.
Best, everyone! :)
Randi Rhodes Has Left Air America
Wed Apr 09, 2008 at 11:09:42 PM PDT
For more information go to: http://www.green960.com/...
I think Air America will be gone a year from now. Rachel Maddow will have her show on MSNBC and likely, Sam Seder, Mark Maron, maybe Thom Hartmann will go to NovaM, while Laura Flanders will likely be back firmly with Pacifica. (And maybe Ring of Fire will be a syndicated show). I mean what's left?! It's all fallen apart.
For more insight, listen to Mike Malloy's commentary here: http://premium.hotlinkfiles.com/...
On the next cruise, I guess it will be the Titanic with a party of one--Mark Green.
As for Randi, she's supposed to be live again (or tape delayed), this Monday, on so far at least two stations, WJNO in Palm Beach, Florida, and KGGN in San Francisco, CA from what I got from the Message Board: http://forums.therandirhodesshow.com/
Corporate America Rant: The Insignificant Consumer
Tue Dec 19, 2006 at 06:49:52 PM PDT
Since Thanksgiving weekend, apparently the consumer (or the "shopper") is supposed to be at least as significant as missing rock climbers and a little more significant than say policy or soldiers or civilians in Iraq . . . I find it rather striking that such stories are probably really in reality about the companies, not us who are pleaded or commanded to go shopping . . .
Google Trends: See the Most Popular Areas
Sat May 27, 2006 at 09:19:47 AM PDT
So Google has recently introduced Google trends where you type in a term and see what regions/cities are searching a term the most. Here's an example using DailyKos
http://www.google.com/...
Activity was highest in November, 2004 (probably because many were returning over and over again, I suspect--not on number of people--or that many of us then who just discovered it did not remember the web address), and since there's been a steady increase . . . people are looking for us.
Thousands of Voters Dumped Off California's Voting Rolls

Californians Recently Moved: You May Not Get Your Sample Ballot or Absentee!
Hmm. It looks like due to problems of California's state-wide voter registrastion verification system, thousands of recently moved or new voters are not getting registered, causing backups to voting registrar county offices across the country according to today's Los Angeles Times:
"Designed by Secretary of State Bruce McPherson to authenticate voter registrations has blocked otherwise valid registrations because of computer glitches, slight discrepancies in spelling or incomplete applications."
The problems have required registrars to contact voters -- a time-consuming process that is already taxing some counties facing elections next month.
San Diego County is racing to rectify rejected registrations in time for the April 11 special election to fill the seat vacated by convicted Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham."

Lexis-Nexis' Top Stories of the Year
Wed Dec 07, 2005 at 11:11:21 AM PDT
This URL leads to the top stories of the year. However, they're also asking for feedback as to what you think are the top stories of the year. While the indictment of Libby is listed (as well as Deep Throat), I'm sure there are many neglected news stories not listed on this site. So what very big stories happened this year that Lexis-Nexis has missed from their list?

Four Fitzmas Carols for a Friday Evening
Fri Oct 21, 2005 at 06:29:21 PM PDT
Since we'll have to wait over this weekend and beyond, it's time to go out carolling. . . (but there's probably less shopping days, still, than you realize! So don't wait till the last minute, cause you don't know when it'll be!")
New Rules Issued for National Forests
Thu Dec 23, 2004 at 10:12:16 AM PDT
Say goodbye to twentieth century preservation of the environment. The Bush Administration issued new rules that will place importance of "economic activity" at the equivalent of "ecological health." Managers of the forests are no longer required to provide an environmental impact analysis!
