Last night there were a few diaries about the lunar eclipse and lots of informed comment as Kossacks watched the show together.  The best comment for me was by Terabytes with a link to free open source planetarium software at a site called Stellarium.  We now own our own locally sighted planetarium on the laptop!

When branding replaces leadership in Pakistan

Sat Dec 29, 2007 at 02:21:52 PM PDT

Bhuttos 19 yearold son will replace her as head of her party. Surely this is not the most experienced person to lead but rather a reflection of the role of media consultants in elections and democracys. I actually heard her media consultant interviewed on NPR yesterday and he said "branding".Wow is it all a sell job or is there any substance for voters throught the world to consider?
As we see family dynasties becoming all powerful in our own counry its a fair question. Democracys must be diligent in their persuit of leaders and not bamboozeled by the hype of such things as branding.
