On May 25, 1961, Robert Kennedy did an address exclusively for Voice of America on race relations in America.
In that speech Kennedy said, "Things are moving so fast in race relations a Negro could be president in 40 years."
Kennedy was almost right on the money.
Unfortunately, according to the chief librarian of the Voice of America the tape of the address is lost, however, it was written about by a journalist at the time and that account can be found on a video documentary entitled, "Excerpts in Rights for Americans: The Speeches of Robert F. Kennedy," (MPI Home Video, 1990).
(Note, this is from a friend of mine, Linda C., who is in charge of a college library in South Carolina. I send her things from DKos and she asked me to share this with you all.)
