I do not like to post on politics of other places, but I am making anexception today.
It seems to me that the writers here, and possibly your Democratic party, are doing their best to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
It is true, that turkeys sometimes vote for thanksgiving (your harvest festival?) but those turkeys have been given an invitation to the feast and a sort of description of the feast. They were just never told what exact position they have at the feast. Literally, a scarecrow could beat Trump in this contest!
Ignoring whatever you think of Biden, let us look at what the Trump supporters need to be told.
Trump said, whenaccused of avoiding taxes said “That makes me smart.” Have youever taken public transit and seen those people who push in front ofyou to steal a ride on your ticket? Would you vote for that guy? If somebody does not pay their fair share of taxes, you have to stump up to pay for the expenses that they will not. I dislike the freeloaders when I see them. The richer they are, the less I like them.
Donald Trump has diddled everything and everybody, and he is proud of it. He is a very small player in that game and he is supported by a large set of “diddlemeisters” who want to use him to allow them to pay an evenlower share of what they are enjoying. He was on TV and so they seem to believe he has just enough to fool teh great unwashed.
I would survive, and probably thrive, in a completely non scocialist system. In that world, those wealthy people would have to educate their own workers, pay for their own police, fire services, etc. If they use the roads, or their companies use those roads, they would have to pay for those roads, probably from usage. How would their employees get to work? They would have to pay for that. Their fair share of taxes they owe now would be much smaller than what they would ever have to pay then. Mine would probably shrink into insignificance..
They are the “diddlemeisters” and it is the little people who they want to diddle. They have not been afraid of buying judges and politicians and they make no serious case to deny that they do. Is that really fine with the average voter?
Trump will probably give another tax break. If your income doubled overnight, your taxes would not double, but your tax cut most certainly would not. If your income went up by a hundred times, your taxes could easily fall quickly and the tax cut you see would jump hugely. Do you think people want that? Was it Leona Helmsley that said “Taxes are forpoor people.” People need reminding.
What about the breaks for investment income. Investments that the majority cannot afford in any meaningful way, the rich can use leverage to pay for their investments and they can deduct the costs of that leverage. Isn’t that fair? Most of us could not do anything like that, at least not legally
Trump complained about Obama golfing as often as he did. How often did he go golfing as compared? There was even a book written about it. “Commander in Cheat,” where Trump was exposed as a complete cheat. Claiming tournament titles for games he never palayed in. I think people should be reminded.
Trump was never a good businessman. How many times did he go bankrupt? How many perople have actually lost money with a legal casino? Of course it did not help that he opened up in competition with himself. Who doesn’t go to an auction and bid against themselves? That is a sure sign of financial acumen.
Of course you could ignore the court findings that show he has tried to diddle his taxes, the banks, the customers for his properties. It only requires that you look at the businesses with his name on them. What happened toTrump University? Trump Steaks? Trump Airlines? Trump anything you can imagine. Even when he was getting money for free, quite a few of those places have taken down the Trump name. What is it that they know? Is it something his supporters don’t?
This is not the time to bring out those guns. It is too early to start pointing out that the “school bully” could have a position of power. It is tooearly to speak about his video nasties that he claims are not true.It is not yet time to play wall to wall videos with Trump just beingTrump, but it is time to break out of the circular firing squad and plan on just how you are going to hit the ground in September.
The average American voter is not an idiot. Do not treat them as if they are. Let theTrump people do that. Do not pander to the very wealthy doners that are walking away, they were never really your supporters anyway. They were just looking for leverage against you.
If you are throwing peanuts at your voters, they will soon realise they are being treated like “monkeys.” Besides that, Elephants eat a lot more peanuts than, monkeys do. Just give the voters the honest facts and tell tehm about what your guys have done and want to do and let the other side bluster and shout. I believe that teh vast majority want honesty over dishonesty. They want fair play over legerdemain. There are some who will not listen, but mostly, they will consider what you say.
