Perhaps I'm going out on a limb here. It's certainly possible. I'm not political animal. I'm not a statistician. I don't obsessively read the polls, nor do I look at at weekly round-ups or the major ones... heck, I stopped even looking at the weekly round-ups. I've just kept a general eye on things. Still, yup, I'm predicting a landslide Hillary Clinton victory. Oh, and I am not even remotely worried. At all. There is literally not a single, solitary part of me that thinks that she will not be the next President of the United States. And she will win in a landslide.
Why do I think this? Why am I so positive she will win? And in a landslide no less? Let's go back to 2008. That was the first election year where I watched the results come in live. I watched the political media call the numbers between Senators Barack Obama and John McCain; I nervously paced as states were called. I listened as Maddow, Hayes, Matthews, et al., talked of how close it was, how it could be McCain just as easily as Obama. I was so nervous, watching the calls up until it was finally, thankfully officially Obama. Hallelujah!
Fastforward four years later... 2012. According to all the polls there was actually a bigger percentage between Obama and Mitt Romney heading into Election night this time around. I was aware of this, but all of the media pundits kept talking about how close it was, how it was anyone's game... how Romney could pull this off, so the few days leading up to it, I was still a bit worried. And then came Election night and a funny thing happened: Those self-same pundits spoke of 2008 and suddenly some truth-telling came forth. Obama, they now admitted, won that handily. It would take a miracle for John McCain to pull it off. Looking at the poll numbers, behind the scenes, the ground game, the caucus wins by Obama, the attitude of the campaigns, it was gonna be Obama. No question. Not a tight race at all... but whoo boy! This time around, well, it was ANYONE'S TO WIN! Romney had a real shot! Bite your nails, folks! It's gonna be a long night!
I couldn't believe it. But then I could. And all worry and anxiety was just, pfft, like that, gone. Of course, Obama had this. His numbers were better in 2012 than they were in 2008. The media knew this now, just as they had in 2008. Just as in 2008 when they knew that it was NOT a tight race between Obama and McCain, and that Obama was handily going to win, they knew the same thing going into the 2012 Election because the writing was on the wall. But... of course, they weren't going to say that, certainly they weren't going to sell that. They weren't going to say on-air, sure, Romney might win... and it will be a cold day in Hell if he does. Hey, miracles happen, so it could, but really, ya'll should turn the channel, watch your favorite movie, read a book, spend some quality family time, catch a few zzz's and come back in a few hours to get the totes expected results that Obama got this. Cuz, yeah, we all know that Obama got this.
Of course they weren't going to say that.
Oh, and, they aren't going to say that now either. Hillary is SO completely far ahead in Electoral votes. The popular vote is normally at this stage a couple of percentage points between the candidates, but it's roughly been about 5% the last few weeks this election cycle. And I hear people (elsewhere) going, oh my goodness! It's FIVE PERCENT separating them in the popular vote!! And I'm thinking... dudes, do you know how huge that is for our country that is full of so many people who have no fucking clue what is going on in the political system? How huge that is for our country that is full of so many bigoted, racist, misogynist assholes and/or under-the-radar persons? FUCKING HUGE!
And the last couple of Presidential election cycles have turned out after the fact to be better than the polls predicted. To break it down further, why I predict a landslide--
1. She is a woman. And, yes, it matters. Women are going to come out and vote in droves. A lot are probably not going to admit it because society and current PC-ism is stupid (yeah, I said it) and have decided that is a "bad thing" to base part of your reason for voting for Hillary Clinton* "based on your vagina." (Excuse me while I roll my eyes... so hard, yup, there they go... out the door, rolling down the hill. They are gone. Typing this blind now.) Yeah, whatever. Voting for a woman for President of the United States for the first time ever is FUCKING AWESOME! And I, and a crap-ton other women, are fucking proud as shit that we have done it and/or will do it. (Especially THIS particular woman!)
*Note: PART of your reason... obviously if she was someone like, oh, Sarah Palin or Jill Stein, a damn huge-ass percentage of us who are voting for Hillary partly because she is a woman would NOT be voting for her because of all of the other parts that do not involve her being a woman because those parts are reprehensible.
2. The lines. Everywhere, the lines. People are voting. Not just women. But people.
3. Blacks are voting. (And, no, they don't have to vote for us non-blacks--because chitown kev is right.) Blacks are voting for themselves... and like, women in high numbers.
4. Latinos/Hispanics are voting. Lots and lots and lots of them.
5. President Barack Obama did a pretty fantastic job when you look at the big picture and Hillary Clinton, Obama, her campaign, her supporters, and (very stupidly) her detractors keep slamming it home that a vote for Hillary Clinton is a continuation and growth of the Obama presidency.
6. Her opponent is the foulest, most disgusting, least experienced, most criminal, most sexist, most vile, most racist, most insulting, least worthy and least Presidential candidate any Presidential candidate has ever faced in the history of the American Presidential race. Those who are opposed to his Presidency aren't just opposed; they are literally (as in the actual definition, not the "cool kids" definition of the word) frightened of what this man could do as the Leader of the Free World. People actually believe that this man could start World War III, destroy the world economy, destroy the United States as we know it,etc. And this is a scarily legitimate fear.
7. Comey's damn-near Unconstitutional last-minute email-ghaazi! re-emergence "accusation" that once again turned out to be a big ole fat nothingburger. Wha?!? You're thinking... but, no, think about it. There was the possibility that enough people might have become complacent, 'Aw, Hillary's got this in the bag, no need to make absolutely *sure* that I vote.' But Comey's pulling that bullshit? Every Hillary supporter, every 'I gotta vote for the person who legitimately has a shot at winning' voter damn well made sure they voted!
So, yeah, I'm predicting the highest margin of victory for a Presidential win... and I think her win is going to take the Republican party down with their chosen leader this time around. They built him, all the while they’ve been attempting to destroy Hillary Clinton. She's still standing. She'll be the only one… in a landslide, and those oh, so lovely media pundits will call it so come Tuesday night. And I'll be grinning the whole night through.
(At least I sure think so!)
