Capping off a great week, Hillary Clinton’s online small donor base has just passed the one million donor mark! While still smaller than Bernie Sanders’s donor base, one million is an impressive number and provides Hillary with a stable base from which she can draw money for the rest of the primary and the general election.
Yes, the general election, because Hillary Clinton is going to be the nominee! *Cheers* Sure, there are still two three months of the primary to go, but after sweeping all five states on March 15, she has a pledged delegate lead of over 320 that can only be surmounted by Bernie winning all of the remaining states by something akin to 20 points apiece. For reasons stated in one of the diaries below, that’s just not going to happen.
And while the race theoretically shifts onto more favorable turf for Bernie, things are not looking so hot for him in Arizona, the next contest on March 22. Nor in New York. Both are closed Democratic primaries. Then there’s this:
I’m fine with Bernie staying in the race until the very end. I’m even fine with him treating it like a competitive primary until the end. What I’m not okay with are character attacks on Hillary Clinton. If he keeps the focus on economic inequality and refrains from attacking Hillary, we’ll all be better off for it.
Now on to the weekly diaries. Unfortunately even after the “ides of March,” the rec list is still not a very hospitable place. At the same time, some really nice diaries have emerged, including from Bernie supporters. If you haven’t, stop and read Lysis’s News & Views and anything from the Hillary Writers Circle. Some entries include:
DaisiesArePretty: Hillary Clinton’s Impressive Arkansas Legacy
TobyRocksSoHard: Over 1,000,000 Contributors to Hillary Clinton Campaign, 94% Less Than $100
First Amendment: Clinton Extends Pledged Delegate Lead, +327. +4 Net Gain. 21 Delegates Still Pending Allocation.
floridageorge: How Florida was won by Hillary with a 31% margin and 70+ delegates added, and decided this race.
Also, this isn’t directly related to Hillary Clinton, but this diary concerns gun violence and the murder of nine people in the Emanuel AME Church in South Carolina:
Sara R: Community Quilt for Mother Emanuel — messages needed to proceed
In addition, feel free to wade through #HillaryClinton and related hashtags, if you dare. Or I can just do it for you.
teacherken: the math does not lie
brooklynbadboy: NYT: White guys don’t like Hillary Clinton. But…
motocat: Fellow Clinton supporters, our time has come. Let us rise and go do terrible evil unto the world.
DianeNYS: Hillary Superpac answers Trump’s “barking” ad, and it’s great!
Finally, if you have money to spare, please donate a few dollars to Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
