Introduction
Today, Alex Jones gave a convicted Russian terrorist and illegal arms dealer the air time to tell Jones’ audience they need to overthrow the American government to prevent a war. Jones’s Infowars site explains it all in the story “WORLD EXCLUSIVE: Russian Insider Viktor Bout Warns Nuclear War Is Imminent.”
If liberals do not yet understand the threat from MAGA, they need to start listening to RW conspiracy media. It is a dangerous abyss.
Background
In 2011, a US jury found Russian arms trafficker Viktor Bout guilty of enabling terrorism. The so-called “The Merchant of Death” received a minimum 25-year sentence. As Attorney General Eric Holder said at the time:
“Today, one of the world’s most prolific arms dealers is being held accountable for his sordid past. Viktor Bout’s arms trafficking activity and support of armed conflicts have been a source of concern around the globe for decades. Today, he faces the prospect of life in prison for his efforts to sell millions of dollars worth of weapons to terrorists for use in killing Americans."
(Bolding mine)
In 2022, Bout was released from federal lockup and sent back to Russia in a prisoner exchange for WNBA star the American Brittney Griner. Griner had received a 9-year sentence for possessing 0.7g of hash oil.
Jones interviews Bout
Alex Jones interviewed Bout on his InfoWars show. The topic was Bout’s support for Trump and his promotion of a bigger Jan 6 insurrection. It beggars belief. Lord Haw Haw is now broadcasting from inside the house. The mephitic Jones claims he is a patriot. Bullshit. He is an enemy of America and Americans. Meanwhile, the MAGAs who think Jones is on to something are lost to reason.
I have not listened to Jones much. But I listened to this. (Click HERE for the video) It was exponentially worse than I imagined.
Jones started by acknowledging people call him a Russian agent. Of course, they do. If the shoe fits, etc. He then asks Bout:
“What is most important you want to impart to people about what’s happening? What is your view of Trump? What do you think will happen if we can get Trump in? And why are they so scared of Trump?”
While the frog-throated Jones rasped through his soliloquy, Bout sat stone-faced, presumably wondering when this verbose toad would shut up so he could answer a question. (Note: To understand what Jones — who appears to be cranked — is saying, I had to slow the replay speed down to 0.75x).
Jones continues:
“Why is the West so scared of Trump, in your view? And what do Russians really think about Trump? Where do you think this is going?”
Jones stops for air. Bout answers in a sometimes impenetrable Russian accent, not helped by spotty audio quality. The arms-dealing terrorist gave an 'attaboy' to Russia’s useful idiot while dishing the obligatory ageist slam at the American President. (Stopping crying MAGA. Biden won 2020 in a walkover.)
“Well, one thing is clear. Trump is for real. He is real. And he is alive comparing to those pictures (unintelligible) like a zombie moving ... missing thing ... here is (unintelligible) need a aide to direct you where to go … trying to handshake invisible … you know …. ahhhhhhh … teleprompt (?) … which are haunting him.”
At this point, the listener is just guessing from a few clues, what Bout is trying to say. The tenor is obvious — Biden sucks — but the specifics are hard to follow. Bout goes on.
“This is one thing. We can discuss all the points, But at least he is a real person who is honestly ... (unintelligible) … not willing … (unintelligible) … America being ruined and being killed by the global.”
Then comes a spell where the words are clear. And Bout does OK for a non-English speaker. He gives Jones the crazy that makes Alex money.
“So this is a, you know, situation where we all hope Trump will finally quickly act after he was inaugurated and literally make sure that these deep state globalists, who are fully controlling American administration would be unable to make more harm to the human being of the planet. And stop, first of all, killing Americans.”
To recap. Jones has a terrorist, who the US has convicted of enabling the deaths of Americans, on his show to say that the American President and his administration are killing Americans. This is nuts.
Bout continues with the Russian position that the war in Ukraine would be over in a heartbeat if Russia were just given the keys to the country.
“And then immediately, all conflicts of the war would be over.”
Bout then gets fuzzy again. But he has read the MAGA handbook. He throws Jones’s audience a bone ("real patriots"). And then shovels trigger names into the gas tank.
“And in the (unintelligible) he has to rely on real patriots. Not those traitors who would (unintelligible) …. like his lawyer Michael Cohen … and then immediately (unintelligible) … (unintelligible) … (unintelligible) … and all the people like John Bolton.”
Jones interjects to agree with me.
“This is sick.”
I spoke too soon. Jones is still on a different page.
“And Trump does not want to kill people. He does not want to blow up all his golf courses with a nuclear war. He’s not a death cultist. That’s why they don’t like him. And we’ve got to get behind him.”
The host then turned to Trump’s post-trial fund-raising. Trump has made significant coin off his felony conviction. But Jones still picks numbers out of the air. He then asks Bout for his ‘expert’ opinion of the deep state reaction to the financial windfall.
“What do you make of 200, now $250 million, raised in four days? Breaking all records massively. What does the deep state, Viktor Bout, do now, with your amazing understanding of this, that Trump is surging?”
Jones then answers his own question. And the violent conspiracy madness erupts.
“I think they go to assassination. Or they’re going to stage false flags and say Trump supporters killed a bunch of Black people. I think that’s the next move.”
Bout happily takes his cues.
“They’re really going to try to really attempt on the life of the Trump. They say ‘So sorry we killed him’.”
Bout then speculates which weak person might replace the assassinated Trump. Then he speculates that a still-living Trump will be forced to negotiate after ‘they’ kidnap Trump family members. (Note: it is not always easy to follow Bout’s thinking)
“Whoever come afterwards would be not even maybe strong enough. Or maybe stupid enough to understand what is really going on. And we can finally, after a couple of months of negotiations reattach strings to this and make all that replacement of the Trump, you know, good new puppet. Because everybody have their family, have their interests, they have their kid.
Who knows? Maybe they are going to get hostages of Trump family and put him to negotiation.”
At this point, the conversation, which had been absurd, becomes heart-of-darkness disturbing. Bout encourages Jones's audience to redo Jan 6 — but this time, do it properly.
“But at this level, all American people have to do their maximum to really show to the global, if you mess up with this, it would be, you know, our strong (unintelligible). Look, if people go to the street in America, the real America who they are, it’s over. It’s two days and it's over. Forget about January 6th. It was a joke.”
The hopped-up Jones leaps in with a bicep-flexing warning.
“I was about to say, we got set up. He was supposed to speak in the Capitol. They set us up. If we were really trying to take over we would have. And they know that.”
Bout agrees that a properly motivated MAGA horde could overthrow the government. Especially as the foot soldiers in the military will overthrow their leaders — and join the insurrectionists.
“Yeah. Exactly. But things of this. People everywhere will go on the streets. Not only in DC but everywhere. That’s it. Who? Police gonna attack all people? Hell no! Military? They’re going to send military against American people? Against this military, they’re going to arrest their own generals. Put them under lock. And come and speak to the people.
This is a moment for another American revolution. And this American revolution at this time, will prevent the nuclear war. Will save humanity from this stuff.”
Mercifully the tape ends
Note: infowars.com had 16.7 million visits in April. Some of those were likely tourists like me. But the vast majority think Jones is someone who speaks common-sense truth. And that is dangerous insanity. No lie.
