If recent events demonstrate anything it’s that if we’re going to “start taking keys away” it might be wise to begin in house…
Y’all need to get your heads in the game.
I don’t know what y’all think you’re doing, but it’s not influencing politics. We had a chance to go on the offense after Biden put the toothpaste back in the tube, but that moment barely lasted a day. I don’t know what game y’all are playing, but whatever it is you’re not even playing proper defense. If we lose this election it’ll be because y’all can’t get your shit together. Fretting about every little thing is useless.
We’re here to discuss and influence politics, not get our jollies. I’m quite certain that the vast majority of y’all are sincere in your panicked fears; but knee jerk reactions, flights of fancy, wild speculation, outlandish theories, and chasing after every distraction are a waste of time, energy, and space. The recent unpleasantness over Biden’s debate performance is a prime example. Far too many words were wasted debating why a hard working elderly man looked tired.
For most of us that question has been answered...
We could have made it a nothing-burger if we’d circled the wagons and entered damage control mode, but that’s not how y’all roll. Instead of taking the time to process the news and seriously think about how we can manipulate the narrative to our advantage y’all just start running amok like children. My little girl’s grade school basketball team demonstrated more focus, coordination, and teamwork a month after learning the game.
It might come as a surprise to you, but I only post a fraction of what I bother to type. It’s not that I’m hiding anything from you, it’s just that I have a somewhat functional filter that keeps me from posting superfluous nothings that don’t really matter or stuff I might regret later. Nevertheless, I don’t let it stop me from saying shit I think y’all really ought to hear. I’m sure I could do better.
We could all do better...
I’m not here for internet points, I’m not here for a circle jerk, I’m not here to fight with you people, and I’m certainly not here for the stupid shit some of y’all spend all day doing around here. I’m here to move the world in the direction I want it to go if that’s in any way possible. The instant gratification y’all are chasing is fleeting and ephemeral. Politics is about trends. It’s about optics. It’s about controlling the narrative. The key is peaking on election day. When y’all go off on a tangent I feel like I’ve gotta run around putting out fires.
Speculation has it’s place there’s no doubt about that...
I’m currently speculating that some small portion of you are here for no other reason than to sow discord, cause trouble, and rock the boat. Odds are some of these are professional, possibly foreign, operatives arguing from both sides of every debate we have at this site. No doubt their prime objective is to create disorder, divide us, and undermine our team’s chances in the up coming election. If results are any indication, then these disingenuous provocateurs appear to be damned good at their jobs…
Now, it’s not my intention to give you a new fear to freak out about. These people can’t harm anonymous individuals and they can’t harm us collectively if we don’t let them. They can, however, prey on our emotions… They operate by being either an irritant or a balm. They won’t say the kinds of things that might get them flagged. No, it’s their hope to goad you into saying such things.
I’m just advising you to beware...
All the fervor over breaking news just distracts us from the important work we could be doing. We should be focusing on down ticket candidates, countering opposition attack ads, fundraising, and getting out the vote. We should be brainstorming ways to entice undecided voters to cast ballots for our candidates. We should be searching for ways to heal the division we all see and feel.
We shouldn’t be giving air time to Trump’s circus side show all day every day. We need to stay focused on keeping control of the ball and moving toward our goals. We should be putting our energy into looking forward and making plans to create the reality we want to live in. When something gets in our way we should ignore it, get past it, and keep on moving along.
We should be acting instead of reacting. We need to quit chasing after every distraction…
