If you know anything about baseball, you’ve likely heard the name ‘Joe DiMaggio’. One thing Joltin’ Joe was known for was being a team player. When he was the center of attention, he often centered his success on the efforts of his teammates, pointing out how, without them, the Yankees wouldn’t be at the top of the league. Joltin’ Joe DiMaggio might still have his stats, but the team wouldn’t possess the trophy.
Opponents, the public, and teammates alike, they loved Joe for his generosity and team spirit. It created a fellowship with fans.
We — an by that I mean everyone that doesn’t want to live under an American autocracy — have the talent, we have the numbers, and we have the capacity to beat this electorally-illegimitate MAGA Menace, that doesn’t know what it wants except to make the American federal government small, (even more) business-friendly, and less responsive to voters.
But only if we don’t splinter.
If we want this election contest to survive the likely attempts at sabotaging the vote count in November, it’s got to be for something worth fighting for.
If it can’t be Joe Biden, the man, and we can’t realistically — as Democrats, which includes many abandoned-yet-lawful Republicans — imagine a lockstep enthusiasm for any viable alternative, then there’s only one other alternative left: Expand the stage.
We’re in a fight for America, we look like America, so let’s make this campaign about... AMERICA!!
This is what we’re fighting for. Not just Joe Biden’s reelection, but the people — the team — Joe and Kamala put together to help run the country. They should become the faces of this campaign, fanning across the nation this summer. Joining former Trump cabinet members who witnessed Trump’s depravity firsthand.
And now that the SCOTUS has spoken to encouraging executive lawlessness, let’s throw that back at them and ditch the Hatch Act, and let current and former representatives of the people’s Government speak to the people in terms that favor the Biden-Harris ticket.
After President Biden and Vice-President Harris, it’s:
Department (Cabinet) Secretaries:
- Secretary of State: Antony Blinken
- Secretary of the Treasury: Janet Yellen
- Secretary of Defense: Lloyd Austin
- Attorney General: Merrick Garland
- Secretary of the Interior: Deb Haaland
- Secretary of Agriculture: Tom Vilsack
- Secretary of Commerce: Gina Raimondo
- Secretary of Labor: Marty Walsh
- Secretary of Health and Human Services: Xavier Becerra
- Secretary of Housing and Urban Development: Marcia Fudge
- Secretary of Transportation: Pete Buttigieg
- Secretary of Energy: Jennifer Granholm
- Secretary of Education: Miguel Cardona
- Secretary of Veterans Affairs: Denis McDonough
- Secretary of Homeland Security: Alejandro Mayorkas
Additional Cabinet-level Positions:
- White House Chief of Staff: Jeff Zients
- Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency: Michael Regan
- Director of the Office of Management and Budget: Shalanda Young
- United States Trade Representative: Katherine Tai
- United States Ambassador to the United Nations: Linda Thomas-Greenfield
- Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers: Cecilia Rouse (served until March 2023, new appointment expected)
- Administrator of the Small Business Administration: Isabella Casillas Guzman
- Director of National Intelligence: Avril Haines
Look at those names. Not one of them is a convicted or pardoned criminal. Those are the names of America. An America I would like to grow old and see thrive.
The MAGA faithful are, very visibly, judging by the flag sizes, for Trump. We contrast that with appealing to the soul (and reality) of Team America.
“Vote Joe & Kamala, because we’re fielding a Team that looks like, and works for, America’s future.”
There’s a palpable fear that coursed through the American body politic this week, when the SCOTUS revealed itself to be complicit, as a body, in the lawlessness exhibited on Jan-6-2021. There’s only one answer to a threat that wants to break up what works for so many: to gather and bind ourselves as the ‘team’ of thinking citizens the American constitution is designed to encourage. Under one flag — the fellowship of States and like-minded communities across the nation — with equal opportunity, to succeed, thrive, and to correct where we fall short. Let’s all think about this constitutional crisis we find ourselves in, and transcend the ‘problem’ of an elderly statesman as our standard-bearer and make the campaign about US, the people of the United States, represented in the cabinet and government of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, to overcome this threat and move the torch of generations forward into the 21st century.
