I don't know if this is common knowledge or not - didn't find it in previous diaries - but the President has requested network airtime at 8 PM this coming Tuesday night for what the network source who told us this calls "A Pro- War Speech to the Nation."
If he is indeed referring to the Iraq War, does this strike anyone as desperation? What could he possibly say in this speech that will turn public opinion back to being pro-war?
(More below)
I can't believe he's going to try any of the old tried and true lies: "We've finally turned the corner," "The insurgency is in its last throes", "The people love that we gave them democracy."
There's got to be either a new lie in the hopper, a REALLY big one (though how much bigger can they get, I wonder?)...or is the war he's going to speak about NOT Iraq after all? A new one, perhaps?
The whole thing is bad jujus if you ask me. And my fiancee's miniseries EMPIRE gets pre-empted, which also sucks.
