A moment and demonstration of what is of the most importance to these young athletes….
….sisterhood.
This took place last week at the WAFF Women’s Soccer Championship in Jordan.
The Arab Orthodox Club was playing the mostly secular Shabab al Ordon Club in the championship final.
Whilst in play, one of the players from the AOC felt her hijab begin to come undone, and crouched down to try to stop her hair from being shown.
Without a second thought, her opponents from the Shabab al Ordon Club sprang into action to protect the dignity of their sister.
Even the forward that had the ball immediately stopped and forgot about the ball at her feet, to rush over from across the field.
Some things are more important.
Having respect for someone else’s beliefs and customs even if they are not your own.
Who ended up winning the game and the championship?
For us, in this case, does it matter?
Some things are more important.
