Want your meal with a side of mouse tracks? That’ s just about the only condition in which you’ ll want to venture into one of Trump’ s New York City restaurants. As reported by the New York Daily News, the NYC locations received some serious health code violations after inspectors visited and found evidence of unclean surfaces, poor worker practices, and, yes—the dreaded mice.
Health inspectors found and reported on these numerous violations back in 2018. They visited multiple eateries owned by the Trump Organization. For example, in July 2018, inspectors reported conditions that were “conducive to attracting vermin” and “allowing vermin to exist,” as well as “evidence of mice or live mice” at the Trump Grill in Trump Tower. They also determined that surfaces that come in contact with food weren’t properly maintained. Surfaces, that do not come into contact with food had issues too, in that they couldn’t be properly cleaned.
Yum!
A former Trump business associate (who wanted to stay anonymous, for obvious reasons) told the Daily News that “Trump has always been far more focused on creating an image for his properties than in spending what it takes to make them excellent,” which should surprise absolutely no one.
Inspectors also found some gross problems at another Trump property in New York. At the Trump Golf Links in the Bronx, inspectors found problems with the sewage system. Oh, and surfaces used for food preparation that hadn’t been “properly washed, rinsed and sanitized” after each use. Lovely.
For the record, Mar-a-Lago, which might function as a sort of delusional haven for Trump, has received multiple health code violations every year, as far as back as 2015. And when you take into account the entire country? There are records of health code violations at his properties going back all the way to 1988.
Hmm. Maybe all of this is why he sticks to Big Macs?
