I’ve mentioned from time to time that my brother is in law enforcement. He’s a cop. Sometimes he’s even a bastard.
And he saves lives. He was there when the towers fell. Yes, Ground Zero. Evacuating people from the area before it all came tumbling down. He fishes bodies from rivers. From time to time he even manages to stop the suicides before they happen such as when Primetime news caught him saving some white executive bro from stepping off the ledge.
He’s even provided security for — wait for it — … Susan Sarandon.
So you’ll have to forgive the tears in my eyes when I saw Officer EUGENE GOODMAN make himself bait as white domestic terrorists chased him up several flights of stairs in the Capitol on Wednesday. I watched the footage and wondered why did he repeatedly stop to goad them, then lead them on, stop to goad again, then lead them on. Well, now we know.
This man risked his life to give the members of the Senate enough time to clear the area.
HIS LIFE for a country that pays him less and probably told him he couldn’t get the day off like so many other Capitol Police who were not onsite that fateful day.
HIS LIFE for a country that asks him to defend it while he works alongside other officers who would rather this country be a white ethnostate.
HIS LIFE for a country that also calls him a bastard for wearing the uniform and doing his duty to serve and protect.
This country did not earn in any way, shape, or form, the sacrifice this man made to save the nation. And he was able to do what he did WITHOUT FIRING A SHOT. Cause if he did shoot… oh boy White America would have had some thoughts. And not just on the right.
I am grateful he did not lose his life. Cause Lord knows white America would have gladly just made him a martyr and political talking point. Black America has given this country enough martyrs.
If not for the action of this one person, democracy might have died on Wednesday.
His name is EUGENE GOODMAN. Remember his muthaf*cking name.
UPDATE:
Good. The Deputy will now be chief, so there’ll need to be a new Deputy Chief. I’ve got a suggestion...
