Kelli Ward, Chair of the Arizona Republican Party, Stop the Steal mouthpiece, trump cheerleader, conspiracy nutter, stupid fucking “audit” champion, and fake electoral document signer—in other words, a central cog in Arizona’s insurrection scheme—was subpoenaed, for obvious friggin’ reasons, to testify before the Jan. 6 Committee. She did, but we didn’t know about it till now.
Kelli Ward, the chair of the Arizona Republican Party, refused to answer questions from the congressional committee investigating the violent Jan. 6 insurrection aimed at overturning the 2020 election and instead asserted her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.
That information was revealed during another hearing stemming from a lawsuit Kelli Ward and husband Michael filed to keep the government from accessing their phone logs (he also signed the fake electors certificate). Their phone metadata was subpoenaed from the time just before the election until after Jan. 6, because Ward had her fingers in just about every slice of the insurrectionist pie here.
It would be helpful to see who the heck she was plotting with, but Ward and her husband filed a lawsuit to keep the information private. A judge rejected that lawsuit, they’re appealing, and during that hearing a committee attorney mentioned, “Dr. Ward was deposed by the select committee, and she declined to answer on every substantive question and asserted her rights under the Fifth Amendment.”
First we knew of that, seems like she’s anticipating something, already lawyered-upped. We still don’t know when her non-testimony took place, but it’s no surprise she shut up.
The New York Times reported in August on emails sent by Trump campaign attorneys in which Ward and a GOP state senator, Kelly Townsend, raised concerns that the fake elector scheme “could appear treasonous.”
Ya think? She didn’t just sign the forged POS; she arranged for it, held the big signing celebration (recorded) at her office, and posted a gloating photo on the state GOP website. Happy criminals! And that’s just one ingredient in the Arizona insurrection stew—Gosar’s dumbfuckery, implicated in Jan. 6 planning, militia BS too close to lawmakers, the Cyber Ninjas criminal enterprise, voter suppression and denial, legislators at the Capitol riot, Q boobs running for office anxious to dismantle elections. Ward certainly had a hand in cooking that stew and keeping it warm.
We used to laugh at Kelli Ward when she was in the Legislature, our own Louie Gohmert in heels, real head-scratching gobbledygook, but scary too. Now she represents the state’s Republican Party, and she has talked to or emailed others known to have plotted against a legitimately elected government, including other local Republican officials happy to sign a disgracefully criminal pledge. It’d be good to know who else.
