This will be a short diary. From Forward Kentucky:
Democrat Erin Marshall (KY-01) launches billboard campaign
Hits James Comer for opposing abortion access for rape victims
Today, first-time Democratic congressional candidate Erin Marshall (KY-01) announced the launch of her campaign billboard in Paducah that hits Rep. James Comer for opposing abortion access for rape victims in Kentucky.
The billboard includes recent information from the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) of the number of rape-related pregnancies in the 14 states with total abortion bans. In Kentucky, so far 2,965 rape victims have gotten pregnant.
Located about one mile from Comer’s official congressional office, the billboard is another stark reminder of the extremist positions that Comer and his party maintain in denying the most basic rights and freedom for Kentucky women. Comer is a staunch supporter of the state’s anti-abortion law that includes no exceptions for rape or incest and has a long record of pushing to make abortion illegal, with no exceptions, in the United States.

Now, I will be honest. Marshall has an uphill battle to fight. The district is R+24 according to Cook Political Report.
However, the district boundaries were changed to include the Frankfort area — state capitol of Kentucky, and it’s why Marshall is able to run in this district now. The Frankfort area has more Democrats in it. Also, Marshall is running on an issue that has majority support in Kentucky: abortion rights.
Kentucky has outlawed abortion, and the only exception is when the life of the mother is in danger. But Kentuckians in 2022 rejected a Republican constitutional amendment that would have banned all abortions. Additionally, Governor Andy Beshear has run twice and won using his strong support for women’s reproductive and abortion rights. In fact, Beshear used a hard hitting ad with a young woman who had been repeatedly raped by her stepfather against Republican State Attorney General Daniel Cameron’s anti-abortion stance.
Also (this is just my humble opinion which is not worth much), I think that Congressman James Comer may be vunerable. And if I was advising Marshall’s campaign, I would use a jiu jitsu move on Comer over his incompetent and unnecessary “impeachment inquiry” into President Joe Biden. Right wing media is pissed off over Comer’s Inspector Clouseau routine.
Yes, we Democrats know that Biden is not corrupt, but Republican voters believe it. And they may not be happy with Comer’s inability to manufacture evidence against President Biden. I would run TV, radio, and social media ads that highlight all the waste of time and money by Comer to produce NOTHING.
Anyway, that’s my two cents.
