WineRev’s Good and Goofy Notes
Watch for WineRev’s G&G notes in the comments to see what others went through, struggled with, and surmounted in the past. His G&G comments are mini Good News Roundups. You can find all his comments here, even today’s, once he posts it. Tech Tip: You can search for >>> in Roundups to quickly find his comments.
WineRev, last Sunday:
The herd of Gnusies is rumbling across the prairie, and trail boss 2thanks is trotting along mounted on his faithful horse Old Whiskey, rope in hand, whistle at the ready. The trotting Gnusies turn in at the Gnuville Breakfast Brunch, where water, coffee, tea, mocha-cocoa and even mimosas are on order and gladly served and sipped. (Hey, its all just modified water, right?) The Chuck Wagon Cookery is offering up hay, alfalfa, oats, grits, croissants, cinnamon rolls and various breakfast proteins involving eggs or egg replacements.
C’mon over to the Hay Bale Lounge, put your feet up on a couch, a chair, even one of those RE-cliners. Slip off your boots, knock off the trail dust, grab a screen that grabs WiFi from the very air and makes pixels excited. There are stories to read, add, comment on, recommend, reply to, expand on, clarify and even tangent-ify from (“this story reminds me of the time…..”).
Thank you 2thanks for bringing us to the watering hole on this here Sunday!

Kipnis and his team began looking at what the brain was doing as it slept. As part of that effort, they measured the power of a slow electrical wave that appears during deep sleep in animals.
And they realized something: "By measuring the wave, we are also measuring the flow of interstitial fluid," the liquid found in the spaces around cells, Kipnis says.
It turned out that the waves were acting as a signal, synchronizing the activity of neurons and transforming them into tiny pumps that push fluid toward the brain's surface, the team reported in February in the journal Nature.
In a second paper published in the same issue of Nature, a team led by scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology provided more evidence that slow electrical waves help clear out waste.

Please share good science news with us! (Especially JSWT, health, environment.)
A good place to look for science news if you are waiting for the Sunday Roundup is the archive of Overnight News Digest. On Saturdays, the OND always focuses on science, though not all of it is devoted to what I would call Good Science News.
Need more good news?
… arhpdx posted a list of good news sites toward the top of a recent Roundup, or you can find that same list in my comment: Good News Sources. Thank you, arhpdx and Mokurai!

You can use the map’s zoom arrows to resize the view and focus on your pin to find neighbors. Please note that the Google Map, though convenient to operate, is visually inaccurate because, among other issues, it enlarges North America and shrinks Africa [Maps present a distorted view of the world by kos].

PC Productivity #5 💨 ✅
I’m creating these PC Productivity notes for people who use PCs, although in the beginning, we will see many shortcuts that are used on both PCs and Macs. A gift of time.
We’ve begun with a series focusing on avoiding use of the mouse and learning to use keyboard shortcuts to reduce frustration and become more productive.
- PC Productivity #1 is here. Shortcuts for manipulating text.
- PC Productivity #2 is here.
- PC Productivity #3 is here.
- PC Productivity #4 is here. Shortcuts for Chrome tabs.
Programs come with keyboard shortcuts. To become more productive, use the mouse less frequently: Note the most common functions you use the mouse for. and find those shortcuts. You can find shortcuts by hovering your cursor over a button and by finding notes about shortcuts.
In Daily Kos, below a diary and above the comments, you’ll see a section called Keyboard navigation. Have you checked out the following commands yet?

On Daily Kos:

A Little Bit About Me
Improving our indoor air quality: My wife and I purchased a Venti Tech Electrostatic Air Filter, MIRV 13, 20x20x1, last week. It is a rigid plastic frame with 9 replaceable filters. The price was right at about $13 for all that, and we already have a box fan to fit it to, probably with duct tape. So we are better prepared for bad air quality than we were last summer.
Our Roundup is almost open!
Thank you for fighting for truth and justice with all us Gnusies! 40% of our Readers don’t visit every day, 50% of us do, and 10% are here for the first time! We all do what we can. For 5 years, we’ve shared positive news, laughed, organized, resisted, rebelled, revolted without being revolting, relied, rested, mentored, created, crossed rivers, chewed our cud, puffed methane out both ends, and laughed. Here’s looking at you, kid, and standing upwind! Beginners, you are cordially invited to comment!
As always, please share more Good News than I can find or provide.
This is a group diary, and by my power I declare this Good Gnus Salo(o)n open! Let the good-news sharing and community building begin!
Power with, not power over ❤️ ✊ ❤️
2thanks (he, him)
