I’m taking a hiatus from MSNBC this week and possibly longer. The coverage in reaction to the Trump assassination attempt was appalling to me and so is their RNC coverage. They are so preoccupied with not provoking a reaction from the the fascists about speculative or opinionated coverage that the shooting aftermath coverage comes off like old Soviet television when a premier died. Meanwhile, FOX happily kept churning out propaganda and innuendo. When MSNBC came back to its normal lineup, they went right back to the Biden competence concern trolling.
My worry is that the hand wringing and doubt by MSNBC and other media outlets is actually creating an alternate and prevailing reality. I’ve seen this before. Republican executives are driving the news cycle, and afraid of offending fellow Republican shareholders. It’s far easier to focus on Democratic infighting than to grapple with the GOP elephant in the room, even when he’s filling it with 200 pound turds.
Yes, there are some very practical problems with switching to anyone but Harris at this stage and I am pissed that that Democrats didn’t have private conversations with Biden if there were realistic concerns about his acuity long before the campaign season was underway.
So here we are, we have media freely speculating, diagnosing, and opining about the fate of a successful sitting president and openly urging potentially disastrous change and undermining his substantial accomplishments. At the same time they are tiptoeing around Trump and a Republican party that has been whipping up political violence since he descended from the golden shower escalator.
TFG has become a victim and apparent benefactor of his own investment in violence. This is exactly the boost a fledgling dictator needs. Tangible proof that the deep state is out to get him, while the press is cowering and covering his favorite conspiracy theories as if they are news.
End rant.
Speaking of reality Here’s a link to The Peoples Guide to Project 2025 Pass it on to anyone you know who isn’t aware of the seriousness of the threat that a second Trump term would really mean.
