I find it crazy ( political malpractice really) that given SCOTUS: given the Chevron decision, given the immunity case; and given the fascist wish list above... Given our already damaged legal system— it simply strains the imagination how our campaign geniuses ( Pelosi, Obama, Jeffries, Schumer) think that Trump is not going to pivot to a Putin style Republic if he gets into power--basically say fuck you, and use the constitution as toilet paper next to his golden toilet.
And if they do know this, why the fuck do they appear to be happily assembling us all into a circular firing squad? As we can only go by the incessant political whispering campaign and nearly zero conclusive election data, we can’t know for sure.
I don’t know about you, but the way Pelosi bad mouthed ANTIFA in the past suggests these are not the gang to be defending us against right-wing extremism. These people will flee the country if shit truly jumps off, and punch a commie on the way out. They’ll all jet off with Richard Branson to a private island while the rest of us are sent to work camps. I am exaggerating, but not much...
All this careerist calculation, and self-fuckery— noises about winning the next time like its a football game-- that seems to be informing the strategic “thinking” here. But, from where I am sitting, the whole thing feels like a desperate exercise in psychological dissociation, not an intelligent assessment or ”plan” going forward.
And I have seen people here, as well, pretending that everything is not ( right now) hanging by a thread, and we can all somehow sit back and eat the Trump shit-sandwich again for the next four years like it ain’t no thing until the pendulum swings the other way, if November should go all pear-shaped..
The extreme version of this thinking is the asshole Democratic congressman who said he could work with Trump: centrism in action folks: kissing the ring of fascists before they even take power.
This notion that, if Trump gets in, we we’ll somehow still have regulatory systems in place, bargaining rights, an EPA, fair election process, an independent media ( such as it is) is funny/not funny. I mean, it may not all be gone right away, but there will be unimaginable chaos and unprecedented destruction...
Only people so out of touch with history and reality could be--- so firmly ensconced in the asshole of Washington DC--- could believe it is sensible to risk further disaster by pressuring Biden to leave the ticket. I am sorry, but nothing the media says and party conservatives can tell me otherwise.
That action alone makes me wonder whether many on our side give a shit about democracy, or knows what is at stake.
One last thought: if the numbers were so bad for the Dems, I believe Biden would acknowledge this and likely re-consider his position….but given the fact that nobody is showing their work in earnest, I am going to guess this is intra-party politics of the most grotesque kind. And you can bet we’ll remember it.
