It seems the bigots are losing their minds. I guess they figured Obama's 2008 victory was a fluke and, for once, maybe a white guy will get a shot at being POTUS. Main article is here.

About 40 students at Hampden-Sydney College shouted racial slurs, threw bottles and set off fireworks outside the Minority Student Union within minutes after President Barack Obama's re-election, officials of the tiny, all-male school said today.
Hampden-Sydney, located about 60 miles southwest of Richmond, has a black enrollment approaching 9 percent of its 1,080 students. The private, tradition-bound school was founded in 1775 and is one of only three all-male colleges in the United States.
Its former students have included a president, William Henry Harrison, and comedian Stephen Colbert.

This is just coming in on Washington Post.com as of 11:25 am EST. I will add more as the story develops. There was the potential for the House to pass the Senate version of health insurance reform due to the loss of the Massachusetts Senate seat. This article published earlier this morning suggested House Dems reluctance to pass the Senate version. Now it seems the House has officially rejected that version.

Rush Limbaugh Show Attacks a Teabagger

by Aspe4

Teabagger and small business owner Mike Vines apparently did not know that he would get in trouble with fellow right-wingers when he applied for a Small Business Administration (SBA) guaranteed loan to expand his business called Escape Massage Parlor in Midlothian, Virginia. The loan guarantees were part of Obama's stimulus program. Of course being a teabagger means Vines is most likely lacking in a normal intellect so the irony would be lost on him of having to apply for a loan guaranteed by the federal government.

GOP Political Stunt Backfires in NC

by Aspe4

With all the tea baggers and angry voters who have never been interested in politics until now (NOT) frothing at the mouth on the teevee this summer, one would think that the Democrats and Obama are the worst stewards of government in history. So the North Carolina republican Party actually bought the hype and engaged in a silly political stunt this past Tuesday with the intention of showing the North Carolina Democrats how angry conservatives are at their party. Perhaps the word "their" should modify the word "republican" and not the word "Democrat"

Last evening, September 1, 2009, Michael Steele held a townhall at my alma mater, Howard University in Washington, DC. CSPAN broadcasted it live. The College Republicans and Democrats both sponsored the event and I believe some people from nearby George Washington University may have attended as well.

The Washington Post reports that the U.S. Supreme Court today issued a ruling on Ricci v. DeStefano, or what is more popularly known as the "White Firefighters Case" in the mainstream media. Sonia Sotomayor served on the Second Circuit court of appeals and helped craft the opinion from which the fire fighters appealed.

Taking out republican NC Senator Richard Burr was one of our good chances at flipping a Senate seat to the Dems but it looks like that is less certain than before. Burr now holds John Edwards' old senate seat. Early this afternoon the Associated Press Reports that NC Atty General Roy Cooper, a Democrat, will not challenge Burr's senate seat.

Obama's New U.S. Attorneys

by Aspe4

As this Washington Post story emphasizes, one of the spoils of the presidential election war is the chance to appoint/fire all of U.S. Attorneys prosecuting federal crimes in the United States. There are 93 U.S. Attorneys around the nation and our territories.

The Great Recession's tentacles reach everywhere. The Washington Post reports that the law firm business model is changing as well. The article details how Northern Virginia attorney Geoff Willard left the big law firm life and began a "virtual" law practice. More below the fold.

Steele in Deep Shiznit with GOP?

by Aspe4

Yo, check it! My man Michael Steele is gettin off to a shaky start and them bitches in the GOP are starting to get scurred according to this article on Politico, dog! Dude has only been there a month and hasn't put together a crew, yet.

On the organizational side, Steele does not have a chief of staff, a political director, a finance director or a communications director. Last week, one of the two men sharing the job of interim finance director was forced to resign.

For now, "the fourth floor," as the RNC’s executive suite is known, is being run by a pair of consultants.

Sure, republicans say all kinds of things in public and on tee vee. But what do they really say to each other in private and what do they think inside their own minds? Hmmmm...
