Five Thirtyeight came out with a great analysis today of the groups supporting or not supporting Hillary. But the biggest part of the story is in the details of that 35 percent of churchgoers who all not vote for Hillary.

Theory No. 1: Different values. College whites and church whites are taught different moral values in their respective houses of learning, values which trickle up into policy preferences. Members of white Christian congregations are more likely than any other racial-religious group to rank personal responsibility above structural factors, such as unequal access to education, in explaining racial disparities in income. And while secular universities rarely purport to give moral teachings to their students, research has found that college education increases tolerance.
The theories between college educated and non-college education religious whites is insightful but misses an important point of what is taught every week in those churches and every night in those homes. The real reason is the religious view of women.
1 Tim 2:8-11 — I will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. In like manner also, those women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
These rules for women come from in Abrahamic law of the Old Testament. This same Abrahamic law is also the foundation for Sharia law.
This is Christian value was everywhere in American culture in the twentieth century. It’s the meal grandma served while grandpa sat, fork and knife in hand, waiting for her to fill his plate.
It’s the words “Wait until your father gets home” because mother could not discipline with the same authority. It’s “Leave it to Beaver” and the “Brady Bunch” and my personal favorite, John Wayne in “The Quiet Man.” Yep, guilty, I loved that show as a kid. Today — not so much. But these shows taught us lessons from the bible.
Titus 2:3-5 —[The aged women] may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
Most of the New Testament references to the role of women are written by the apostle Paul, a single man opposed to marriage unless you have to because you can’t control your lust.
The woman code comes to every child from grandma and grandpa and from pastor and peers in the surrounding pews and from the bible. The more they attend church, the more often they are taught the code.
1 Tim 3:14,15; 2:11-15 — Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
According to a recent poll, about three quarters of Christian Americans say they believe the bible is the actual or inspired word of GOD. www.npr.org/....
That means women be quiet, be submissive, be the auxiliary, not the main event, and when the serious sermons are delivered, be invisible.
1 Cor 14:33b-35, 37 — As in all churches of the saints. Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
Women are to keep silent. Women are to be submissive. Women are to work within the home. The man is the head of the woman.
1 Corinthians 11:3 — But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
Bill Clinton is the head of Hillary Clinton, and has not properly fulfilled his role as her head, so she is actually headless….but that’s another article.
Isa 3:12 — As for my people, …[they suffer because] women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
Women are not to speak in public. Women are not allowed to lead
I spent forty years in the white church. Women who do not submit to these rules are at the least, rebellious and likely to be chastised by the other women, or worse, by the clergy. At worst they are labeled Jezebel’s and whores.
This is why Hillary is hated and will not be voted for by the church people. A vote for her is a vote against the bible.
Really. That’s it.
It’s the law of the witch trial era. The first woman hanged as a witch in 1691 was outspoken in church and owned a business. The accusations were based on wild fantasies, but the violation was raising herself to the level of a man.
It was the status quo in the 19th century. The vote would make women rebellious and less womanly. They did not need the vote because they were under the rule of their husbands and outside the rule of law.
It’s the reason the Equal Rights Amendment of the 20th century failed. Women would be like men. They would not have that “special” role reserved for women. Women could not be trusted with many of the rights this would allow them - military service, rights of real estate contracts, credit. Women ruled by their bodies and their emotions are subject to imperfections not part of the male. The political uproar over the ERA was so loud and angry, I thought the amendment must be a full document that declared the original constitution invalid. It was not regularly published in papers. Once I got a copy of it and read it I was amazed.
Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.
Really. That’s it.
Today, 300 years later, 0nly around 11% of American congregations have a female as their senior or sole ordained leader.

The number of women priests in US authorized by the Catholic Church is still Zero. For many of the female pastors and priests, they are considered to be in rebellion. America has a huge remnant of religious BS in our collective psyche. It doesn’t take much effort to see it every day.
Equal pay still not a fact.
Equal rights in the workplace still not a fact.
Protection from domestic abuses still not a fact.
Protection for a woman’s rights to her own body still not a settled fact in all fifty states.
So, what about Hillary Clinton and trust?
Isa 3:12 — As for my people, …[they suffer because] women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
When she was in college and beyond, she was a civil rights activist.
When she was a young attorney, she worked for the Watergate prosecution team, writing briefs that eventually found the President of the United States guilty of an impeachable offense.
This is a serious female offence - challenging authority.
When she was the wife of a southern state Governor, she was an attorney and worked on her own agenda to help children and other disadvantaged persons.
When she was the wife of the President, she stated she would not be fulfilling the ‘traditional’ role of first ladies but would be continuing to do the work she was called to. She made a challenging statement to women, one that earned her the most mistrusted label. She didn’t intend to “just stand by her man and bake cookies and have tea.” This statement was the leading headline for weeks. Hillary should be ashamed; she is not fit to be the first lady, etc.
Hillary Clinton’s calling is leadership. This is her shame. Whether you are Christian or atheist or agnostic or some other mindset, it is a good time to challenge the unspoken rules in your dogmatic inner child. Impossible as it might be, the challenges to Hillary Clinton’s work and supposed scandals should be directly compared to the same work details of men in similar roles. Many of them are compared, such as Bush years embassy attacks, email servers, lost emails and endless complaints. Applying the ERA to these discussions would do a lot to calm the turmoil.
Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.
But hey — that’s not in the bible.
The litany of accusations against Hillary Clinton have been written about so many times, anyone with a minimal desire to find out the truth can simply look up a specific claim and read all the details. As we know, 99% of them have been debunked. But that has not achieved the desired effect and it is unlikely enlightenment will swoop down upon the nation overnight. We still labor under the unspoken rules:
1 Tim 3:14,15; 2:11-15 — Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
In case you have never read the original sin fairy tale of Genesis, here it is. God catches Adam eating an apple. Adam blames his wife for conning him. Eve says she did it. They are both cast out of the garden, but she is additionally punished with subservience to him and childbirth pain.
Genesis 3 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made.
He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, 3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’” 4 But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.
8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool[c] of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?”[d] 10 And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.” 11 He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” 12 The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.” 13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” 14 The Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life. 15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.” 16 To the woman he said, “I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children. Your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you.”
Snake = liar = deceived woman = deceptive woman = liar = Hillary
The real work to stop repetition of the “untrustworthiness” of Hillary Clinton requires examination of our personal history with our mothers, grandmothers, sisters and wives. Some men are seeing it clearly through the eyes of their daughters. It is okay to trust women. Really. That’s it.
