Clinton by ‘Wide Margin’ Seen as More Qualified Than Trump: Poll
With all the talk of tightening polls — and clearly they are, as expected -- the internals of this week's Quinnipiac poll paint a starkly different picture than the raw data would indicate. I find it fascinating, baffling and ... encouraging?
Clinton trails Trump on the ‘honesty' issue by a few points, though he still is seen as dishonest by half of respondents. Yet on every other important trait, characteristic and issue, she is ROUTING him. Below are some highlights. What am I missing?
Likely voters say 62-38% that Clinton is qualified to be president and 61-38% that Trump is NOT qualified.
Clinton cares about average Americans, 53%-46%, Trump does NOT, 55%-44%;
Clinton is intelligent, 88%-11%; Trump is intelligent 69%-29%;
Clinton is level-headed, 63%-55%; Trump is NOT, 69%-27%;
68-31% that Clinton has the right kind of experience to be president; Trump does NOT have the right experience to be president, 65%-34%.
Voters say 51%-46% that she would do a better job on immigration;
Voters trust Clinton more than Trump, 52%-43%, to make the right decision about sending U.S. troops overseas;
Voters trust Clinton more 57%-39% percent, to handle foreign policy.
"Trump trails Clinton on foreign policy, immigration, experience, intelligence and level-headedness, but perhaps most damning, American likely voters say 61%-35% that 'the way Donald Trump talks appeals to bigotry,' " Malloy said.
The only area where Clinton trails Trump is on the question of honesty, where 55% say Clinton is “not honest enough to be president” while 48% say the same of Trump.
