Hi! I have written a few diaries many years ago, and I hope it is still kosher to ask for help from the community. I have a wonderful woman who cleans my house who is from Mexico. She has learned so much English in the time since she has been here that we only sometimes run into difficulties. We usually can sort out whatever gets lost in translation due to her efforts because to my chagrin, I do not speak much Spanish. She really has a hard time with text messages however, and I don’t think a phone conversation would go much better since a lot of our communication depends on non-verbal cues.
So, can someone please translate this for me so I can send it to her via text message? I want to tell her this:
“You do not have to come to clean this week, I would rather you stay home and safe. I would like to pay you anyway, for doing such a good job here. I can either mail a check to you if you give me your address or you can pick it up, I can hide it under the mat on the front porch. Stay safe and healthy with your family.”
Also, google translate still sucks, right?
Thanks so much!
Also, if anyone wants to use this space to give ideas on how to help domestic and service workers who are losing their income, please do so.
