Help me respond to wingnut relative

I am a casual facebook participant and lurk more often than post. But today's entry from my step-daughter, whose husband is in the army and has been deployed to Iraq once and will likely be deployed again, has me itching for a coherent and measured response. I wish I was more informed on these topics, but my first inclination is to ask you - my fellow Kossacks - for feedback and guidance. Here's what was written:

President Obama has proposed a 1.4% pay increase for active duty military in 2011. This is THE LOWEST SINCE 1973! Nice to know that during a time of rampant inflation, while war is fought in 2 theaters, our men and women in uniform get A LOWER PAY INCREASE THAN WELFARE RECIPIENTS!!! Please repost if you support our troops

I think I'd want to include some details about the Veteran's healthcare and education benefits that HAVE BEEN INCREASED increased under Obama, along with Republican obstruction of same. Not to mention the comment about inflation which seems totally out of left field.

While I hesitate to get into a war of words with relatives, this one is just beyond the pale. Even throws in the requisite jab about supporting the troops. Nice.
