Im sitting in my office listening to my all white co-workers justify why Michael Brown deserves to be dead. Did you know that he attacked the officer? Collapsed half his face and broke an eye socket. Then he tried to get his gun, ran away, and then charged the police. Oh all this after he robbed a store. Some of this we know is BS. The rest will probably prove to be BS too. No crime other than WWB - Walking While Black. So lets compare that to a REAL crime. One we happened to get a reminder of today. A violent crime where 4 people were killed. Multiple felonies committed and more importantly admitted to. No dispute about the facts in the case. Only the outcome is different.
As a member of the Profession of Arms I find the situation in Missouri disgusting. What makes me even more disgusted is the idea that these goons represent what a "militarized" police for looks like. It does not. Soldiers are not police and they make very bad police when the are asked to be. But they are professionals. They follow orders. They take responsibility for their actions. They practice restraint and discrimination (the good kind). And when they fail to do so they are held accountable.

Every election is important. Doesnt matter if its for dog catcher or President, we need to compete and win. But 2016 is going to be more critical for a number of reasons. It is a key opportunity to change the direction and perception of Democrats for a generation.
I want to emphasize that this is not a pro or anti Hillary rant. I don't care if we elect a monkey as long as that monkey is a Democrat. Most of what I will cover is going to happen no matter what so even if Grumpy Cat is our nominee we need to win so we can reap the rewards.
Im going to talk about three things - education, health care and government and how controlling the last brings the rewards of the first two.
So click and go below the fold for more!
(TLDR - We need to win because the next 8 years are going to rock no matter who wins and we want credit)
Im all for increasing the minimum wage but I am a big believer in bipartisanship and compromise. And I mean that in a Republican way where I make all the compromises and they give nothing. Well almost nothing. I want a minimum wage increase. In return I am willing to cut welfare benefits and end wasteful tax payer subsidies that pick winners and losers instead of letting the market decide. Now thats something even Paul "Dignity of Work" Ryan could support, no?
You know back before Obama, Coke ads were in English and Super Bowl QBs were white. Now to top it off we are faced with a flat out invasion from China. And what is he doing about it? Nothing:
"China’s wealthiest citizens are increasingly seeking a better life abroad. The United States is their favored destination. "Wait what? Why would anyone want to move to this oppressive socialist Muslim run country? More below the orange blossom.
Dear Senator Boxer,
I doubt you remember me but we met once at DLI in Monterey. You gave a wonderful speech and despite the warnings from your staff and DLI PA made some great comments about Congressman Farr. I loved you disregard for the "rules" and the look of "what can I do?" on your senior aides face was priceless.
Today you and the rest of the Senate voted to reduce my retirement. Today six of my peers died in Afghanistan. I don't know how you square that circle. You have no issue asking us to be at war for 12+ years but don't want to pay the bill if we happen to survive.
When you came to DLI you were helping right a wrong. We went into Afghanistan and Iraq with too few linguists and you wanted to help us fix that by expanding the Arabic, Dari and Pashto programs. Linguists are boring compared to jets and ships but you supported us because it was the right thing to do. I have never forgotten that.
We also went in with too few people, too little equipment even too little ammunition. But we went anyway and my friends paid for that with their lives. I drove around Baghdad in a thin skin Land Cruiser and shared body armor with a peer. I shared ammunition. I survived but the message I received today was "should have died."
I cannot think of anything more insulting than retroactively cutting retirement for military. You lavish us with praise while we are useful. You come to our ceremonies and tell our families you support us. But once we are no longer someone you can send off to die, you go back on your word. For 27 years the Army has told me "you give us 100% and we will take care of you." I have given my 100% and now you want to give me 99% back. Then 97, 96, 95.....I guess I have been a fool to keep my end of that deal.
Walk out of your office and go down to the mall. 58,191 names across 140 panels. One is my father. He died 2 months before I was born. As I headed off to Afghanistan in 2010, my 4th deployment in a decade, I told my family not to worry, that the Army would always take care of us. Little did I know they would be better off if I had died. Little did I know that as long as I survived you could go back on our bargain. I guess my dad was lucky not to survive long enough to have his country tell him he didn't give enough.
Came across this blog today - 20 things the poor do every day. It is a must read and one everyone should reference when speaking to TeaPublicans. I dont want to repost the entire thing but go below the orange squiggle for some of the highlights.
Last week we learned that WalMart would be open on Thanksgiving day. We were told by a WalMart executive "associates" were even excited about the opportunity! Heck they were going to get extra pay, a meal and 25% off everything they could buy with their sudden wealth for the opportunity to work on one of the few remaining holidays not run over by greed. But as suspected, Walmart has figured out a way to screw over employees and make sure they dont earn extra for working on Thanksgiving. In fact, some might earn less.
**See Update below**
Remember back in October when a group of Tea Party truckers said they were going to shut down DC traffic because of Obama and....well something? Yeah they failed (go figure). This week French truckers showed how a protest is done.
PARIS (AP) -- Between 2,000 and 4,000 freight trucks closed off major French highways and slowed traffic to a crawl on nine roadways to protest a proposed environmental tax on heavy loads. You can read more here.
So to recap, not only did the TeaTruckers have a stupid reason to protest, they failed at organizing themselves to protest and then got shown what a protest looks like by....THE FRENCH!!!
If you want to see what the TeaPublican future looks like you dont need a crystal ball or Ms. Cleo. No all you have to do is go to that paradise of deregulation - China. China where Mitt Romney finds low wages and low standards and declares paradise. China where 9 year olds get lung cancer without ever having to light up.
Happy Veterans day to my fellow vets. Today is a day we take a minute to thank the REAL 1% - the less than 1% of all citizens who when asked said, send me. But what about the other 364 days? What can we do then? Those who serve get today off* but not the rest of the year so how can we best thank them for those other 364 days? Let me tall you about the best way to honor a Veteran.
Some time today Fox is going to freak out because the Russians are HERE!! See Russia flew two Tupolev Tu-160 "Blackjack" bombers to Venezuela today.
Never mind we fly our own aircraft all over the world daily. Never mind there is no new threat from these aircraft. No they will get lathered up and say it is because of Obama, Snowden, Benghazi and Obamacare. My money is on John McCain being the most dire and Mike Lee a close second.
