So, a few days ago there was a Politico story re: the final days/weeks of the Sanders campaign, which was the usual template-form “CHAOS AMIDST THE WRECKAGE” sort of gossipy tabloid junk that comes out about losing campaigns. Lots of head-shaking and anxiety and bitterness about the story, even though it was thinly and anonymously-sourced — but it provided some grist for various mills (pro-Sanders, anti-Sanders, anti-Democrat, etc.) and so Politico “won the morning”.
However, from Cincinnati.com:
Connie Schultz, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and wife of Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown, said Bernie Sanders called Brown Wednesday to deny a Politico story that suggested Sanders felt betrayed by Brown and other progressive senators.
On Facebook, Schultz added: "Bernie always gives the best hugs." She said she didn't fault Politico for the story, and said she didn't doubt that some "embittered staffer" made those comments. "I just don't believe he or she speaks for Bernie," she wrote.
[...]
Brown said he and Sanders have a good relationship, and it hasn't been frayed by the presidential primary. "I’ve spoken with him from time to time during this presidential race," Brown said, "always in a positive way--just checked in 'How you doing? It’s amazing what’s happened with you and this race.' And we kind of laugh about that."

Oh...
Looks good for them, sounds good for us; so of course it will be generally ignored by everyone (including us). Whether it’s post-story spin or a clarification of tabloid reporting, who can say, and it hardly matters. It’s clearly not much of an actual issue.
If you’re shocked that Politico decided to win the morning with a one-sided and exaggerated account, you shouldn’t be. If you believe every story in Politico that sniffs out Democratic ANGST and DISARRAY, well…you’ve got more faith than I do, I guess.
And they have a new one out today. A new “DEMOCRATS IN DISARRAY” piece about how “Sanders supporters” are “warning” Obama not to get in Sanders’ way. Good grief. Inflammatory clickbait, thinly sourced and focusing on a few outlying “radical” Sanders supporters instead of the vast majority of millions upon millions of Sanders supporters — well-known and not — who are doing no such thing and doing quite the opposite.
Who took the bait, again, on this one? Did you? Why’d you let Politico win your morning? What about your next one?
