As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
We have split up the publishing duties, but we welcome everyone in IAN to do daily diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news! If you would like to write a diary, let us know in a comment. Ok, we have a current diary schedule. If you would like to fill in, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMom a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FSNMom is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.
Monday: Crimson Quillfeather Tuesday: ejoanna Wednesday: Caedy Thursday: art ah zen Friday: FloridaSNMOM Saturday: jan4insight Sunday: loggersbrat
If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
The last two days have been an absolute nightmare. Monday started our first day of new ownership at work, and has begun the need to start budgeting for a bi-weekly paycheck. How long has it been since Caedy’s been on a bi-weekly paycheck? NEARLY NINE FREAKING YEARS!!! It was at my first McDonald’s nearly nine years ago that I’d been on a bi-weekly paycheck. Then I went corporate and the weekly paychecks started. Well, buy outs are a pain in the ass, and now things will be done bi-weekly. OH, and now pay day is on Wednesday instead of Tuesday. Also, apparently it was also too much freaking hassle to have some form of direct deposit/pay card thing set up so I get to do the back and forth walking every freaking payday until the time comes when some form of direct deposit is put into place. -le sigh-
Positive thing however, I might actually get decently priced vision insurance through work . Not going with medical because I rather like paying $8 a month for health insurance through the market place instead of more than that bi-weekly for insurance through my employer (and to be honest the ACA plan gives me better benefits than anything I could get from McDonald’s especially for prescriptions).
This is only part of the reason for the nightmare situation at work. Monday, I worked a 0600-1500 shift, which is simple enough...aside from the fact that I had the migraine from hell all day and of course I was in back cash the entire day. We were supposed to have a second order taker for lunch...well the front counter chick apparently wasn’t feeling well, and so my second order taker (ya know, the one that is supposed to take orders to make my life easier during the lunch rush) ended up having to go on front counter….so I had to slam through lunch on my own...oh I how I hated people by the time the end of my shift rolled around. I didn’t end up clocking out until 15:25 or so because of having to wait for my drawer to be counted down, and finishing up a few tasks.
Well, the only difference between Monday and Tuesday, was the fact that the migraine and tension headache weren’t present when I woke up...no, that rolled in at round 07:30…after I’d been HAND WRITING and calculating transactions for an hour and a half. Why you ask? BECAUSE OUR SYSTEM HAD BEEN DOWN SINCE 22:30 THE NIGHT BEFORE!!!! Yeah, you read that right. 10:30pm EST our system had been down, and apparently NO ONE had thought to call ya know, the store manager….or GASP the new owner to get this problem handled? SERIOUSLY PEOPLE USE YOUR DAMN HEADS.
About the only thing that kept me from quitting and just walking out the front door and not looking back was the fact that I wasn’t in drive thru at all during breakfast when the system wasn’t working. No, I was on front counter. However, the system being down causes all sorts of back up in our drive thru….and our lot is already small as hell anyway so back ups aren’t anything unusual. However, I did take enough orders to fill two and a half standard sheets of printer paper before the system was online again by change over. TWELVE HOURS! Our system was down for twelve hours...seriously?
Ultimate we had about $2000 in hand written orders by the time everything was said and done. It was absolutely crazy. Also, on top of all of this we had to manually make drinks because our automated drink thing in drive thru was about dead and is only slightly jury-rigged until the technician can get there and actually fix the arm mechanism that gets the cups into the conveyor thingie. So, when it rains...it pours. I’m only hoping and praying that the last three days I have to work before I get a day off...go smoothly. Otherwise, I think I might end up losing my mind, or killing a coworker.
