From Burnt Orange Report.
It appears the Austin American-Statesman has dug up more evidence indicating that Texans for a Republican Majority, Maj. Leader Tom Delay's PAC, used corporate donations for political purposes in violation of Texas law.
This article directly links the Texas Association of Business, a corporate-sponsored group, and TRMPAC. Delay has denied that TAB and TRMPAC have ever worked together, but they're both linked to a California phone bank which targeted likely Republicans back during the 2002 midterms.
The whole situation is necessarily complicated, but the article has a nice bullet-point list of the particulars. TRMPAC and TAB used corporate donations to identify likely Republicans, and used that list to direct-mail and phone-bank them. And there's a long paper trail proving it.
Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle has been investigating this for two years, and this may be the break he's been looking for. He managed to get indictments against several Delay associates back in Sept., but there's been little (public) progress since then.
