My husband and I both look around the web to find material to read to each other. Most of it relates either to the 2008 presidential campaigns or to the Bush administration's incompetent and/or criminal behavior. I recently took the extra step of joining some sites so I can add my own comments. This is my first diary.
I cannot find adequate words to describe how I feel after my husband read to me an opinion piece from Salon.com that was posted on Friday. Get out some Kleenex if you read the article. In A sickening truth at Guantanamo, H. Candace Gorman describes the desperate situation of her client, Abdul Hamid Al-Ghizzawi, a detainee at Guantanamo.
Ms. Gorman writes that although the commission found that Mr. Al-Ghizzawi is not a terrorist, he continues to be detained. But that's not really the sickening part, as disgusting as that is. Here's the thing: Mr. Al-Ghizzawi is dying and is not being given medical treatment he needs to survive.
