Foul-mouthed rant: On
There's a stupidity floating around claiming that Bernie Sanders has somehow "sold out”, whether by endorsing Hillary Clinton or by officially hanging the “D” on his name or by whatthefuckever else. And to those people quacking this bullshite I have to ask: Just who do you think you're talking about?
Bernie Fuckin Sanders that's who.
You know, he's the guy whose life's work consists of speaking up for and working to help the powerless and the voiceless and the marginalized among us. He's the consistent and fearless guy in standing up for what he believes is right, and he's the guy who is well-known to his colleagues of all persuasions as an honest, consistent and principled operator. Bernie is the guy who proudly calls himself a democratic socialist and who will proudly school any unwary red-baiting challenger on what exactly is meant by the phrase “democratic socialist”, and for those and many other reasons he's also the guy who lit a fire this cycle under the collective butts of lefties in the United States.
But Bernie endorsed Hillary for president on the Democratic convention floor, and in typical Bernie fashion, full-throated and no fucking around, and ever since he's been campaigning for her across the country.
So, what, that whole lifetime of record has to go out the window?
The evil powers of those dastardly Clintons are so abominable and irresistible that they corrupted even Bernie?
"Some people” are saying that Hillary is a crook, and those “some people” are somefuckinghow more trustworthy than Bernie Fucking Sanders?
Derp. Derp. And: Fucking derp.
Maybe, just possibly, Bernie recognizes that the tales of crookery hang over Hillary’s head, not because she herself is a criminal or at all “crooked”, but because there's been a decades-long campaign, ongoing in fact since Bill Clinton defeated George H.W. Bush to become our 42nd president, to impugn as much negativity and mistrust upon the Clinton name as possible.
Maybe Bernie sees that Republicans have had good reason to fear Hillary Clinton, and so have had very good reason to smear her as much and as hard as possible. Specifically they've known for some time that, adding the ultimate bolster to her already formidable resume, she's long been likely to be the first woman president of the United States. And maybe Bernie sees that thwarting that goal has been a main driving force behind the right-wing’s decades-long, frantic vendetta against both her and her husband.
Maybe Bernie can plainly imagine Republicans grinning and saying “Good. Goood. Let the hate flow through you.” every time they hear a middle-class person trashing Hillary Clinton.
And Bernie certainly recognizes something much more important:
It's going to be Donald or Hillary.
One or the other. Not Jill, and not Gary, and not Bernie either. Donald or Hillary.
And no amount of prayers or sorcery or third-party fervor are going to make that otherwise.
That's the admittedly shitty reality of American politics today.
The choice for president is only between two people. Donald or Hillary.
Bernie has made his choice, and I for one trust his judgment.
