Their candidate for Mayor--lost.
Their candidates for council--lost.
Americans for Prosperity--Suck it!
Suck it indeed. Suck it indeed.
Despite efforts by the political advocacy group Americans for Prosperity to influence the outcome of Tuesday’s election in Coralville, three incumbent candidates were elected to another term.
John Lundell was elected mayor while incumbents Tom Gill and Bill Hoeft along with newcomer Laurie Goodrich won seats on the City Council in what was a record-breaking election for Coralville, according to unofficial results from the Johnson County Auditor’s Office.
Shortly after ballots were counted Tuesday, Lundell said he received a surprise phone call from Vice President Joe Biden.
“He indicated that he was very proud of our city, that we took on the Koch brothers and successfully beat them buy such a huge margin,” Lundell said. “That was another aspect of this election that was unanticipated, that after the polls closed that I’d be speaking to the vice president of the United States.
The White House had their eye on this. IME that means our speculation that Coralville was a trial run in IA by Koch Election Industries bears out. This is, as they say, a Big Fucking Deal.
Biden. Damn...
There is a new rec list diary up from a Coralville resident, Kossack demiowa, and I think we need to show some love. Rec it, tip it, comment and congrats for a job well done!!!!
Coralville Iowa 1 AFP 0

The Koch Bros. Grimm seem to have overreached and drawn unwanted attention to themselves in a small town small-city Iowa race for City Council. As their Tea Party pawns reap a harvest of negative public opinion, The Koch's have apparently been moving right along into Local elections in largely unprecedented fashion.
CORALVILLE, Iowa — Election seasons in this small eastern Iowa town are usually cordial affairs. But this year, a group backed by the billionaire Koch brothers has changed that.
The group, Americans for Prosperity, has jumped into the race to elect Coralville’s next mayor and City Council with an aggressive campaign, mailing fliers, advertising in newspapers, calling voters and knocking on their doors. Its latest leaflet hit mailboxes last week, denouncing the town’s growing debt and comparing it to the financial woes of Detroit. “Coralville is fast becoming Iowa’s version of Detroit,” it read.
Guessing Small Town Small City Iowa doesn't cotton to this? Over the hump for payback...
