There's been something interesting going on in Christianity here in America for a number of years now, and that is the "mega-church" movement. Recently, with all the flap over Rick Warren, there has been an increased scrutiny of his Saddleback Church and its website, which in many ways, has been the proto-type for the mega church movement. By no means is it the only one. There are many of these churches throughout America now.
They are the fastest growing "denomination" in Christianity. (Technically, virtually all of them are "non-denominational" but I hope to discuss how iffy that is in the future.)
Follow me below the fold for the first of what I hope will be a series of posts on these churches with one little example of the thinking behind them and what it shows. I will use one of Atlanta's largest megachurches, North Point, led by the Rev. Andy Stanley, as an example in today's post. (Why? Because I've been to that one before.)
