I've only lived in tucson for about a year and a half now, but this story has hit me pretty hard. Working in news, it's my job to be able to look at things objectively, and not let me emotions get in the way. But it has backfired, you can only be smashed over the head with pictures of dead little girls, blood congresspeople, a dead judge, and renditions of amazing grace before it breaks down you walls. If you could all see this community rally and come together despite the pundits and politicians you would be proud of this sleep big town. I sure am.
I live a mile from the scene, shop at that safeway, have talked to Rep. Giffords, work out across the street from the scene. I will shop in that safeway again (assuming it ever reopens) and I will not let the actions of a crazy man stop me from living my life the way I want to.
