How can it be that we, America, have devolved into a country that has of late become extremely protective of an ally that has clearly committed Human Rights violations? Long before Israel viciously displayed their intent to strip Palestinians/Gaza residents of their land and homes, many, many years ago, Israel, with a clear conscience racked up innocent Palestinian lives via (high powered guns/ammunition) as simply — collateral damage. Funny, that those words “collateral damage” has somehow slipped into US law enforcement vernacular, oft spoken during press conferences to justify their rationale for the death of yet, another, unarmed innocent at the behest of law enforcement as collateral damage.
In Gaza, the “collateral damage” innocent deaths remain largely not investigated without a any credible explanation to justify the ultimate use of force typically against folks hurling rocks while futily attempting to protect their land and homes.
Apparently, in today’s culture zeitgeist, the human rights of Palestinians and residents of the Gaza Strip pale in comparison to the rights of Israel, known as the Chosen Ones. And this right of the Israelite's began long before its land grant ( check the Bible) from the United Nations alongside an outsized endorsement from the Unite States in 1948, No need to mention the guilt of this decision based primarily on thee collective guilt of nations, ours included, for not lending assistance to the Jews attempting to flee Europe during WWII. And today, not even in the visible reality of Israel’s clear human rights debacle, nations, people will not sanction Israel for bad behavior and genocide.
So, how have we, Americans, consequently arrived at this place where we actively shut down protests from Palestinian students and their supporters, on US college campuses? How is it possible for USC (University of Southern California) to remove an out-loud academic super star, Muslim woman as valedictorian, from sharing her ideas honed at USC, her probable words of wisdom, about a very real and visible problem at her graduation because of influential, big money “contributors” that demanded her removal from the graduation program. USC’s way to handle the “problem”? The administration’s way to eliminate the hint of “implied” antisemitism was to stop the implied, visible presence of a hijab wearing — mixed modern fashion statement displayed by an obvious Muslim woman, was to remove all speakers at the planned graduation. Once again, deplorably, money dictates actions in America, even on supposed liberal bastions.
College campuses, Gaza/Palestinian supporters, at least in the North East, Michigan University, and at Stanford, have assembled to protest the war between Israel and Hamas that has negatively impacted the lives of innocent Palestinians, largely children. Based on college administrators and on everyday Americans, It would appear that being Pro-Palestinians automatically translates into being anti-Semitic?
How can it be that we, America, has devolved into being actively punitive and supportive of any country and that country’s policy of obvious genocide, a country that has consistently violated human right’s long before an attack on October 7, 2023?
When, or will, American Institutions stand-up against obvious manipulation by a government engaged in treacherous behaviors against innocents, a recreation of the horrors of WWII? That war, that terrible time in history displayed how mankind, via violence, torture, pain, and fear can render a populace invisible. Because of fears of being judged anti-Semitic, American institutions have abandoned the plight of a non-enemy innocent.
